Our mission is to help our community find and promote local volunteering opportunities, allowing prospective candidates to have a positive impact on our community through enriching experiences and by building skills and friendships that’ll give them a stronger sense of belonging. There are many volu
nteer opportunities in Mystic, Groton and Stonington, as well as many individuals looking for ways to engage and make a difference. We believe that everyone has unique qualities and differences that can enrich the lives of others and organizations. We’ll be featuring local volunteers, their stories and experiences to highlight the impact to their organizations and our neighbors. ABOUT US
Manon started volunteering shortly after moving to Mystic from Boston in 2016. She first volunteered teaching French and Spanish in a program she established at a local elementary school while volunteering for several local non-profit organizations, and being on the board of the M.O.M.S. Club of GLMS. In 2021, Manon joined the Mystic Hook & Ladder Company where she was a volunteer firefighter prior to becoming a career firefighter, and has been a volunteer EMT for the Mystic River Ambulance Association since 2022. Jay grew up locally and started volunteering with the Town of Groton Police Explorers while attending Robert E. Fitch Senior High School. In 2015 he started volunteering with the Mystic Hook & Ladder Company where he was a live-in firefighter for three years and has been a career firefighter since. In 2024, with assistance from Manon and several Mystic Firefighters, Jay spearheaded a ‘Fill the (fire) Truck’ food drive to support the Groton Food Locker and Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center while working on community risk reduction efforts with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders.
