Our Story

“Angel Gowns-Capital Region, NY" is a volunteer group based in Albany, NY helping parents who have suffered the loss of a baby by providing burial gowns for their babies. We are ALL UNPAID VOLUNTEERS and rely on donations of time, energy and supplies to carry out our mission. We hope to alleviate further stress on a family who is already suffering the loss of their loved one. Our angel gowns are made from donated wedding gowns, First Communion dresses and other donated fabrics and are transformed into “angel gowns” by our special seamstresses. We offer these gowns for babies weighing under one pound up to (approximately) 13 pounds. Gowns are ALWAYS FREE OF CHARGE to the families who need them. Our NY Team was founded by a Capital Region resident in Feb. 2015 as a support for another group. In 2018, we decided that we could function more efficiently as an independent entity keeping to our one clear focus-helping these grieving families. What we Need-

*Seamstresses-willing to volunteer a few hours of their time to create an “angel gown” from a wedding gown. Simple patterns, instructions and support will be provided.

*Donations-white and ivory wedding gowns, light pink and light blue satiny material, white and ivory thread, white and ivory 1/8” and 1/4” ribbon, gift cards to Joann's, Target, Walmart and Staples and pre-paid VISA cards to help with shipping costs.
