Welcome to the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra Guild page! ๐ŸŽถ

We're so glad you're here! We'd love to share a few highlights from our recent guild meeting.

On June 16, 2026, our members gathered at Ruth Taylor's lovely home for a wonderful morning together. The weather was beautiful, the refreshments were delicious, and it was a joy to catch up with friends while sharing the latest guild news.

One of the most special moments of the morning was celebrating Marion Cramsieโ€™s 100th birthdayโ€”what an incredible milestone! She is the mother of one of our members, Pat Richardson. We also had the pleasure of welcoming our newest member, Dona McGarry and we're excited to have her join our guild family.

We were also delighted to enjoy a beautiful clarinet performance by Kelsa Rice, who performed for our members. She is a senior at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) majoring in Music Industry and is part of a select group of musicians that performed at a ClarinetFest in South Korea in early July 2026. We are honored that she shared her remarkable musical talent with us and wish her continued success.

As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, we're eager to continue supporting the Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra and promoting music education throughout our community. We have exciting plans ahead and look forward to making a positive impact together.

If you're curious about the Guild or interested in becoming a member, we'd love to hear from you! Please email us at [email protected], and we'll be happy to answer your questions and help you get connected.

Thank you for visiting our page. We hope you'll follow along as we celebrate music, friendship, and community throughout the year!

The new year began with a wonderful performance at Hobgood Elementary, graciously sponsored by Belt Family Realty. Students jumped right inโ€”engaging in the high/low pitch game, enjoying the snappy Pink Panther theme, and finishing with the ever-popular instrument petting zoo.

Displayed on the music room wall was a picture of Dolly Parton with her quote:
"Music is the magic carpet that can help you fly, take you anywhere you want to go."

Thank you, Mrs. Barbara Belt, for making it possible for these children to truly โ€œflyโ€ through music. ๐ŸŽถโœจ

Dr. Bonner served on the Main Street Board of Directors from 2000 to 2023 and as board chair in 2015. She was instrumental in helping with JazzFest and Taste of Rutherford. Dr. Bonner still serves as Main Streetโ€™s biggest cheerleader and our Historian.

"When I was hired as the Executive Director in 2019, Dr. Bonner was my biggest cheerleader. She introduced me to people in the community, attended every meeting with a smile and energetic laugh, and was always willing to attend events and help - even to pull trash cans into the street to block spaces for attendees at the Friday Night Live Concert series," said Sarah Callender.

Please enjoy our 2025 Education Year In Review. We loved sharing the joy of music with students at Reeves Rogers Elementary, Smyrna Middle School, Northfield Elementary, Discovery School, and Cason Lane Academy! These interactive presentations connected directly to both music and science curriculums, helping students explore pitch, volume, and sound waves in fun, hands-on waysโ€”yes, even humming with hands on their throats and fingers in the air!

From learning about instruments and identifying loud vs. soft sounds to enjoying musical favorites like Star Wars, Rocky Top, A Salute to George M. Cohan, and holiday classics, students were fully engaged. The experience wrapped up with our always-popular Instrument Petting Zoo, where percussion, strings, brass, and woodwinds were all ready to be explored.

A huge thank you to TPO musicians Greg Lawson, Andrew Witherington, Nicole McVey, and Donna Wehofer for their talent, energy, and dedication to supporting music education in our schools. ๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿ’™
