It’s more than a slogan to us—it is the mission we were founded on 20 years ago. Thanks to your incredible support, We Are Building Lives has grown tremendously over the last two decades. But the heart of what we do still happens in the quiet, everyday moments of true veteran camaraderie.
Just yesterday, a veteran stopped by and connected deeply with one of our program participants. That immediate brotherhood is exactly what fuels our Mentorship Program. Veterans helping veterans heal, grow, and reclaim their independence. Who better to relate to our veterans than other veterans.
If you’ve been around many veterans, then you’ve probably picked up on the shift the very moment another veteran enters the conversation. They have their own language, code by which they operate, and trust system. Many have a hard time trusting people with the pain they carry. It is essential that other veterans enter the conversation. It is necessary that we ALL stand beside them as they heal. “Hope lives here”
