🐾 JACKIE & JERMAINE WERE ADOPTED! 🐾

As a little backstory, Jackie & Jermaine were originally transferred into our care from Hart County Animal Shelter to give them the opportunity to find the right working home.

Their first placement didn’t end up being the right fit for them as livestock guardian dogs, so we picked them back up and brought them home for additional training, evaluation, and time to figure out what environment would suit them best.

This weekend, we’re so happy to share that these two officially found their new home — together! ❤️

Jackie & Jermaine will be heading to additional training before settling into life working on a farm right here in Kentucky. We’re excited to see them continue learning, growing, and doing what they were meant to do side by side.

Thank you to Hart County Animal Shelter, everyone who has followed their journey, and everyone who helped support their care along the way.

📸 Pupdate photos will be coming soon as they settle into their new farm!

We’re taking on a new project to help make feeding time safer, cleaner, and more efficient for the horses in our care — 10 DIY slow-feed hay feeders! 🐴🌾

We’ve found heavy-duty, heat-treated wooden crates that can be converted into sturdy hay feeders with floating slow-feed net frames. This will help reduce hay waste, encourage slower/more natural eating, and give us multiple feeders to spread throughout our paddocks.
Our goal is to raise $400 to complete all 10 feeders.

Project breakdown:

🪵 10 heavy-duty wooden crates + delivery — $195
🔨 Lumber for slow-feed frames — $70
🌾 Slow-feed netting — $100
🔩 Screws, washers & other hardware — $35

TOTAL PROJECT GOAL: $400

Want to sponsor a specific part of the project? You can! You can cover one crate for $15, help with the $45 delivery, sponsor lumber, netting, hardware, or simply contribute any amount toward the overall goal. Every dollar gets us closer to having all 10 feeders ready for the herd.

We’re also looking for a few volunteers who are comfortable with basic woodworking/building projects to help us assemble the frames and convert the crates. If you’re handy with a saw, drill, measuring tape, or this kind of DIY project and would like to spend a workday helping the rescue, please reach out!

Projects like this allow us to stretch every donated dollar further while continuing to improve daily care for the equines at Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary. 💚

Goal: $0 / $400

A little equipment update from Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary! 🐴💚

Thanks to items donated to some of our recent auction fundraisers, we’ve been able to turn those contributions into practical equipment our staff and volunteers can use throughout the rescue.

One of our newest additions is this VEVOR Home Improvement utility wagon. It’s already useful for hauling supplies, yardwork, firewood, and everyday chores around the property. It also came with a liner and cargo net, which makes it especially helpful for events when we’re loading in tables, booth supplies, merchandise, educational materials, and everything else that seems to come with setting up an Off Course Rescue booth. 😂

These are the kinds of purchases that make a big difference behind the scenes. Donated auction items help us raise funds, and those funds can then be reinvested into equipment that makes work easier and more efficient for our staff and volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who donates items, bids, shares our fundraisers, and continues to support what we’re building. Every contribution helps us do more. 💚

💙 $5 FRIDAY — HELP US FILL THE DUMPSTER! 💙

💰 GOAL: 💲1️⃣1️⃣0️⃣/ 💲4️⃣5️⃣0️⃣

When our farm was purchased, it came with a lot of old junk and debris both surrounding the barn and stored inside of it. Now that the weather has finally cooled down, we decided it was time to tackle one of those not-so-glamorous—but very necessary—projects.

We rented a large dumpster from Hart County Solid Waste for two weeks, and we fully intend to FILL. IT. UP. 😂💪

Cleaning out this space will allow us to make much better use of the barn and surrounding areas this winter, including:

🐴 More room for hay storage
🧰 Space for a large, organized tack room
🌾 Additional usable space for turnout paddocks
🏡 A safer, cleaner environment for the horses, volunteers, and veterans we serve

The dumpster rental cost the rescue $450, so for this $5 Friday, we're asking our community to help us cover that expense.

✨ Just 90 people donating $5 would completely fund the rental!

Every $5 helps us turn previously unusable space into something that directly supports the animals and programs at Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary.

Even if you can't donate today, sharing this post helps tremendously. Thank you for continuing to help us improve this property one project at a time. 🐴🇺🇸

🌱 Winter Pasture Project: Officially Underway! 🌱

Now that we have the ATV, we decided to put it straight to work on one of the projects we had in mind from the beginning: growing winter pasture for the horses in our care who are able to be maintained on grass rather than dry lots. 🐴💚

This is exactly the kind of job we hoped an ATV would help us accomplish—making pasture management, seeding, fencing, hauling, and other day-to-day farm work much more manageable.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Hedgepeth Farm Supply LLC in Canmer, Kentucky, for donating 150 lbs. of seed toward our winter pastures! Their incredibly generous donation covers 50% of the seed needed for this project and allows us to get started ASAP.

🌾 Hedgepeth Farm Supply

📞 (270) 528-2133
🌐 https://www.hedgepethfarmsupply.com/

If you haven't visited them before, we highly recommend making the trip and supporting a local, veteran-owned farm supply business!

We also want to thank the Vogel family in Glasgow for offering us a gently used broadcast spreader at a reduced price to help make this project possible. Being able to purchase quality used equipment instead of buying new helps us stretch every donated dollar even further.
And that matters. ❤️

Growing winter pasture where appropriate can help us reduce hay usage and winter feeding expenses, allowing more of our funding to remain available for things like veterinary emergency savings, grain and supplements, animal care, and future improvements to the rescue.

The work we do is ultimately about serving our South Central Kentucky community, our animals, and the people who depend on the resources we're working to build.

It truly takes a village to bring all of this together—and to keep growing it.

Thank you to everyone who donates, discounts services or equipment, shares our posts, volunteers, and simply believes in our mission. Every contribution adds up to something much bigger. 💚🐴

🥕 CARROT UPDATE — STILL SEEKING HER FOREVER PERSON 🥕

Miss Carrot is still waiting for the person who sees everything we see in her.

Watching her seek out attention and be so incredibly gentle with children has been one of the most rewarding parts of her journey. There was a time when so many had given up on her. She had been labeled dangerous and worthless. We couldn’t catch her. We couldn’t safely remove her halter. We couldn’t handle her feet. Trust simply wasn’t there.

And now? Carrot feels like a horse again. ❤️
She is calmer, curious, affectionate, and learning that people can be safe. She can be caught, handled, groomed, and have her feet worked with. Seeing that change reminds us exactly why horses like Carrot deserve another chance.

Carrot still needs an experienced rider and a knowledgeable home to continue her education. However, with time, consistency, and the right person, we truly believe she has the potential to develop into an intermediate youth horse. She has always shown a special curiosity toward children and often seems more willing to trust them.

She isn’t a finished horse, and we won’t pretend she is. But she has already shown us just how much is possible when someone stops asking, “What’s wrong with her?” and starts asking, “What happened to her, and how can we help?”

🥕 Carrot’s adoption fee has been reduced to help her find the perfect home. Our priority is the right match—someone willing to continue giving her the patience, structure, and kindness that have brought her this far.

Please share Carrot’s story. Her forever person may simply not have seen her yet. ❤️

A huge thank you to Central Ky Concrete & Epoxy for supporting Off Course Rescue & Sanctuary and helping us finish clearing some of our fields! 💚🐴

Several areas had become overgrown with thick thorns and brush that were simply too much for tractor tires to safely handle. Getting these areas cleared is a huge relief for our horses and our staff, and it’s another big item checked off our winter prep to-do list.

We’re incredibly grateful for businesses that step up to support the work happening here. If you’re looking for professional, thorough, and friendly service, please check out Central Kentucky Concrete & Epoxy and all the work they offer. We absolutely recommend them!

Thank you for helping us create safer, more manageable spaces for the animals in our care. 🐎💚
