TURN IN A POACHER (TIP): Indiana is home to Northern Bobwhite quail and its unique whistle. While the Southern part of our state provides the best climate for these upland birds, they can be found in the northern counties as well. Throughout the fall upland hunting season, bird dogs and bird hunters love the challenge of hunting these fast little birds. While you are enjoying the outdoors this fall, keep your ears open for the whistle of the Northern Bobwhite quail and for any talk of suspicious activity such as illegal dumping or poaching of wildlife. Report your tips to the Indiana Turn-In-a-Poacher/Polluter hotline: 1-800-TIP-IDNR or you can submit a tip online by going to: tip.IN.gov

TURN IN A POACHER (TIP): It’s that time of year again — deer hunters across the Hoosier State are preparing to head into the field. Thousands will set out in hopes of a legal and ethical harvest, providing food for their families or supporting those in need. While most hunters follow the rules, a few choose to break them. When someone illegally takes a deer, they steal opportunities from law abiding hunters.

You can help protect Indiana’s wildlife by being our eyes and ears. If you witness or suspect illegal activity, report it by calling the Turn in a Poacher (TIP) line at 1 800 TIP IDNR or submitting a tip online at tip.IN.gov.

TURN IN A POACHER (TIP): Think you have to travel south to catch BIG catfish? Think again! Indiana has some fantastic catfishing, with channel cats, flatheads, and blue cats providing anglers with plenty of opportunities for a serious fight. Target deeper holes, outside bends, current breaks, and structure—and don’t overlook nighttime fishing when catfish can be especially active. Cut bait, live bait, and prepared baits can all produce, but always know the current Indiana fishing regulations and do your part to protect our fisheries. And if you see someone illegally taking fish or violating Indiana’s fish and wildlife laws, remember the Turn In a Poacher/Polluter (TIP) program: 1-800-TIP-IDNR (1-800-847-4367) or tip.IN.gov—you can remain anonymous, and qualifying tips that lead to a case may be eligible for a reward. Let’s keep Indiana’s waters full of fish for the next generation! 💙🐟 🎣

TURN IN A POACHER (TIP): Mourning doves can be found across Indiana and you’ve probably seen them in your own backyard from time to time. Due to how common they are, some folks don’t know that Mourning doves are actually game birds. For many, dove season opener on September 1st of each year, marks the unofficial beginning of fall. Since the dove season opens while the weather is still warm and often coincides with Labor Day vacations, dove season is a great time to get groups of family or friends out in the field.

Whether you are out in the field on a hunt or in your neighborhood, please remember to report any illegal or suspicious acts against wildlife to the Indiana Turn-In-a-Poacher/Polluter hotline: 1-800-TIP-IDNR or report your tips online at tip.IN.gov.
