🇺🇸 Celebrate Constitution Week with the Paul Revere Chapter, NSDAR! 🇺🇸

Join us at Carnegie Library for a special evening with nationally syndicated travel journalist and author Bill Clevlen!

As part of the America250 celebration, Bill is traveling the country sharing stories from his book, Presidential Road Trips: 100 Places to Explore and Experience the History of American Presidents.

The Paul Revere Chapter, NSDAR is proud to partner with Carnegie Library for this special program as we commemorate Constitution Week and its three important goals: to encourage the study of the historical events that led to the framing of the Constitution, to emphasize the Constitution as the foundation of our American heritage and way of life, and to remind citizens of their responsibility to protect and defend it.

The evening will include Muncie's Constitution Week Proclamation, complimentary pocket Constitutions, light refreshments, and a fascinating journey through presidential history.

Come celebrate the Constitution, explore America’s presidential past, and help keep the principles of our founding document alive for future generations! 🇺🇸

19 August 2026

Last night at the Eaton Community Center, Daughters from the Paul Revere and Francois Godfroy Chapters, from the Eaton, Albany, and Delta communities, were honored to come together in service and gratitude.

The evening was made possible through the remarkable efforts of Jaden Bell, who coordinated a spontaneous community fundraising campaign to provide a meal for the Eaton Fire Department, Eaton Police Department, Albany Fire Department, and our EMTs as an expression of gratitude for all they have done for our communities throughout this difficult past week.

What began as a simple idea to show appreciation quickly became something much bigger—a beautiful reminder of what can happen when neighbors come together with grateful hearts and a shared desire to serve those who so faithfully serve us.

As Jaden so perfectly stated:

“To the Eaton Fire Department, Eaton Police Department, Albany Fire Department, and all of our EMTs — thank you will never be enough. You run toward the things the rest of us hope we never have to face. You give your time, your energy, and sometimes put your own lives at risk to protect ours. Our communities are incredibly blessed to have you.”

Last night was community at its very best—neighbors helping neighbors, gratitude put into action, and service answering service. We were truly honored to be a small part of it.

The Paul Revere Chapter lifts up the Morey family during this time, surrounding them with our heartfelt prayers for comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.

Thank you, PBS Ball State, for making the July 9th Liberty & Legacy event at Carnegie Library possible. The Paul Revere Chapter is grateful for your partnership, for sharing selections from THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, and for helping connect our nation’s story of independence with the Revolutionary War Patriots whose legacies became part of Delaware County’s history. It was a meaningful evening of history, remembrance, and community. Indiana State, DAR

If you missed the American Revolution program at Carnegie Library last week that was held in partnership with Ball State PBS and the DAR, there is still time to view the beautiful poster exhibit “Delaware County Revolutionary War Patriots: In Their Own Words” by Kathryn Hirons Kesterson.

The exhibit will be available to view through August 7, 2026 during business hours on the second floor of Carnegie Library. The exhibit tells the service history of Delaware County’s Revolutionary War Patriots and includes quotes from Revolutionary War pension applications transcribed and extracted by Kathryn in her service as a volunteer Citizen Archivist.

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, the National Archives and the National Park Service are collaborating to transcribe the “Case Files of Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Applications Based on Revolutionary War Service, ca. 1800 - ca. 1912.” Since June 2023, Kathryn and thousands of Citizen Archivist volunteers have helped make these records more accessible, revealing battlefield accounts, references to noted generals, glimpses of eighteenth-century life, and the voices of Revolutionary War veterans in their own words. Learn more about the transcription project and how to become a Citizen Archivist volunteer at https://www.archives.gov/citizen-archivist/missions

8 July 2026

"Two hundred fifty years ago, on July 8, 1776, at noon, the words of the Declaration of Independence were first read publicly in Philadelphia. Four days after its adoption by the Continental Congress, people from many walks of life gathered in the State House Yard, where Colonel John Nixon proclaimed the Declaration aloud. Reading from one of the freshly printed Dunlap broadsides, its ink scarcely dry, he carried the treasonous message of independence from the halls of government to the ears of the people.

For many who listened, those words marked a profound turning point. They were no longer merely subjects of a distant king. They were being called to imagine themselves as citizens of a bold and uncharted republic. Some cheered. Some were moved to tears. Others, especially Loyalists who still supported Britain, looked on with alarm.

We gathered at the County Building in Delaware County, Indiana, in remembrance of that historic moment—as citizens, members, and friends: the Sons of the American Revolution, Continental Chapter; the Daughters of the American Revolution, Paul Revere Chapter; and the Children of the American Revolution, joined by the Delaware County Veterans Service Office. We stood as descendants of Patriots who gave their service, sacrifice, courage, resources, and, for many, their lives to the cause of American independence.

As we read those words aloud once more, we honored the men and women of the Revolutionary generation and renewed our commitment to the principles of liberty, self-government, civic responsibility, and sacred honor that continue to define the American story."
