Scrollworks Is Celebrating 15 years!
Our Cave 9 Summer - Recreating Scrollworks circa 2008!

The first day of Scrollworks lessons at Cave 9 was Saturday, February 16, 2008. Rashawn was our first--and only--student that day. The stage was filled with all the instruments we could squeeze into my Honda Element. Half a dozen teachers stood around drinking coffee, chatting and plunking on random instruments. One or two stood out on the sidewalk hoping to pique more interest. Lots of soul-searching on the way home that night. But we were back the next week to try again.

This Saturday, June 11, we invite you to be our Rashawn. We have the instruments. We have fantastic teachers. And we know what we're doing!

Just ask two of the iconic names in classical music! We have once again been chosen as a partner in Carnegie Hall's PlayUSA network and have been trained by and worked with the VSA/Kennedy Center to teach music to students with disabilities.

This summer we will be offering free drop-in lessons from 10 to 2 on four Saturdays: June 11, July 9, July 23 and August 6 at St. Paul UMC, 1500 6th Ave N.

Ages 6+. No need to register in advance

Strings, Winds, Piano, Percussion, Guitar
Use our instruments or bring your own.

Stay for 30 minutes or all day
Take a lesson on one instrument or several

A burgeoning homeschool co-op wanted to find a new extracurricular opportunity that would involve as many kids as possible. They decided to stage a musical, but needed a little seed money to get started. That’s where you came in.

Please join us on Thursday, July 14th for a Home School College Day on the Calhoun Huntsville campus. The event will be from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. and will begin in the Multifunction Room in the Math, Science and CIS building. This event is for any home school students (and their families) who are considering Calhoun Community College, including Dual Enrollment students, First Time Freshmen and returning students. A flyer detailing the event is attached and students and families can register at www.calhoun.edu/homeschool .

A to Zoology Summer Multi-Day Camp (5 Days)

Come join us for a week full of fun and animals. Campers will enjoy learning about everything from invertebrates to mammals with live animal presentations, crafts, games, and so much more! Camp is separated into three age groups. Snack, lunch, and t-shirt are included. The same activities will be offered each week.

Entomologist for a Day

When: Wednesday, July 6 from 8 am - 3 pm
Cost: $140 (+ tax) per participant, $15 Member Discount
Grade Level: 4th - 8th

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an entomologist or to work at the Cook Museum of Natural Science? What would you have to know? What would you get to do? Experience behind the scenes tours, entomologist classes, independent workstations, and even a grasshopper dissection! Participants will go outside to learn insect collection methods and take home an insect they pinned. Lunch and a t-shirt included.
