The Cure Starts Now: Kentucky - Beckham's Bloodline Chapter A top pediatric brain tumor research charity built by families to support families In August 2023, while on vacation in Florida, our world turned upside down.

Meet Beckham, our sweet and fearless 8-year-old with a huge heart full of determination. He’s a huge WWE Fan, always cheering on his favorite wrestlers and dreaming up his own epic matches. When he’s not watching wrestling, you’ll find him gaming with his friends, diving into Fortnite battles, or listening to his favorite rap songs. by his incredible strength as he faces life’s toughest challenges with so much bravery and courage. Our sweet Beckham woke up paralyzed one morning, unable to move. That terrifying moment led to an emergency hospitalization in Florida, where we received the devastating diagnosis: Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG). Beckham was then transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment, where our battle truly began. Despite the odds, Beckham continues to fight with unimaginable strength and courage. Inspired by his resilience, we knew we had to do more not just for Beckham, but for all children facing this cruel disease. That’s why we are proud to join The Cure Starts Now, a charity dedicated to funding research for a home run cure, a strategy that focuses on curing all cancers by finding a cure for the most aggressive forms, like DMG. By launching The Cure Starts Now: Kentucky – Beckham’s Bloodline Chapter, we are committed to raising awareness, funding vital research, and fighting for a future where no family has to hear the words there’s no cure.

“We refuse to accept that there are no options. Every child deserves hope, and every family deserves the chance to fight with more than just time. Becoming a chapter of The Cure Starts Now is our way of turning heartbreak into action for Beckham, for all children, and for a cure.”

The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.

Carter's dream pet was a tarantula tarantula. Because, as he would say, scary things need love too. 🕷️

Our kids are no stranger to the scary. DIPG often slowly takes away their ability to walk, talk, see, swallow and breathe. Children, like Carter, may feel their bodies changing before they have the words to explain what is happening.

But Carter embraced the scary. In all the ways he had to and in the ways only he could. Carter loved the critters most would shy away from. So when spiders made Carter this happy, his mom Joanna made adopted AT-DP, the adorable tarantula.

Did you know tarantula's live on average 3 years if they are male... and 10-20 if they are female? Well, Joanna knows. Seems AT-DP is a girl!

The Courage for Carter Indiana Chapter honors Carter's love for the scary by raising funds for brain cancer research (and by taking care of AT-DP in his memory.) Thank you for all you do!
