Luv Ya Like A Brother

Luv Ya Like A Brother I’m Jim Becker — a husband, a father of four, and a man learning to live with the unbearable loss of two sons to su***de.

To honor the memory of loved ones lost too soon by promoting mental wellness, creating awareness, and supporting young people of character who are making active efforts toward mental health and well-being. Life has forced me to walk through a kind of darkness I never imagined, and every day I’m trying to find light in it — even if it’s just a flicker. I share our story not because it’s easy, but b

ecause silence helps no one. My hope is that by speaking openly about loss, mental health, and healing, someone else might feel a little less alone in their own struggle. 💙

Today, we are honored to announce Keagan Blair as the recipient of the Luv Ya Like A Brother Scholarship Award. 💙💜

Keagan’s application stood apart not simply because of what he has endured, but because of how he has chosen to rise from it.

He demonstrated remarkable self-awareness, compassion, resilience, and leadership — paired with a deep understanding of mental health, grief, and the importance of human connection. His willingness to turn personal pain into purpose, and to advocate for others who may be struggling in silence, reflects the exact spirit this scholarship was created to honor.

Keagan spoke about the importance of recognizing the many ways people express pain — through silence, humor, subtle changes, or direct cries for help — and the responsibility we all have to take those signs seriously. That perspective matters. That awareness saves lives.

What stood out most was his commitment to using his experiences to help others feel seen, supported, and understood. That kind of leadership cannot be taught.

This scholarship is not simply recognition of achievement — it is an investment in the impact we believe Keagan will continue to make in the lives of others.

Congratulations, Keagan. We are incredibly proud to support your journey and excited to see where your path leads. We know Kaden would be proud of the voice, strength, and purpose you carry forward. 💙

Today is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. 💚💙

Not every struggling child looks “troubled.”
Sometimes anxiety looks like anger. Withdrawal. Perfectionism. Stomachaches. Meltdowns. Silence.

Children don’t need "perfect" parents, teachers, coaches, or communities. They need safe adults who listen, notice, support, and stay present.

Behavior is communication.

See them. Hear them. Support them. Help them thrive.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💜💙

Let’s start talking.
Let’s start educating ourselves.

Because for women, the weight is often heavier—and too often, invisible. The truth is: Women are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Many feel overwhelmed most or all of the time, and far too many carry it silently.

Check in. Listen. Support.
Start the conversation. It could change everything.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💜💙

Let’s start talking.
Let’s start educating ourselves.

Because too many people—especially men—are carrying weight in silence. Pressure to be strong. Fear of being vulnerable. Stigma that keeps real conversations from happening.

The truth is, mental health affects all of us—and ignoring it doesn’t make it go away.

Start the conversation.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💜💙

Let’s start talking.
Let’s start educating ourselves.

Because the reality is—too many children and teens are struggling silently, maybe because they don’t always have the language, support, or safe space to be heard.

Mental health is in our homes. Our schools. Our communities.

Luv Ya Like A Brother is looking to connect with schools that are creating or supporting programs focused on mental health awareness, peer support, and student wellness. There are incredible things happening in schools, and we want to help support, highlight, and partner with programs that are already making a difference in students’ lives.

If your school has programs for mental health initiatives — we would love to connect and learn more about what you’re doing, or what you wish you could be doing.

If you are an educator, counselor, student, or parent involved in mental health efforts in a school, please comment below or send us a message.

🩵🪽 There’s a version of grief no one talks about —
the quiet, repetitive kind.
The kind that shows up in ordinary moments.
This is for those living inside that truth. 💜🪽
