It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Tri-Lakes VFD firefighter Jeff Derrick, who tragically passed away on February 27, 2026, while working a grass fire alongside MPFD.
We are keeping his family, the members of Tri-Lakes VFD, and everyone affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

The Professional Firefighters of Mount Pleasant are proud to support breast cancer awareness month. We will be selling t-shirts for $25 to honor those affected and to raise awareness within our community!

Shirts are available for purchase through Local 5069 members and will be available for pick up October 3rd. Please call Central Fire Station to speak with Jennifer, or contact a firefighter directly to get yours!

On behalf of IAFF Local 5069 and the Mount Pleasant Law Enforcement Association, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to support Kirk Brown’s Barbecue Benefit.

Because of your incredible generosity, we were able to raise over $18,000 to support Kirk during this difficult time.

Kirk and his family beyond grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown by our community.

Please join us on August 22nd at Dellwood Park for a barbecue benefit in support of our brother, Firefighter Kirk Brown, who is currently battling Stage 4 cancer.

Barbecue plates will be $12, with 100% of proceeds going directly to assist Kirk and his family during this incredibly difficult time. We’ll be serving starting at 11:00 AM.

Whether you knew Kirk personally or simply want to support your local first responder, your presence makes a difference. Please share this post, bring your family, and come hungry.
