Worry causes us to ask "what if". Worry, doubt, fear. They can all be crippling forces the enemy uses to slow you down and divert you from the plan and path God has for you. On the other side of that is perseverance, which causes us to say "even if... I will keep moving forward". Perseverance is not necessarily the absence of fear or doubt. It's embracing the presence and power of God in order to keep going, keep trying, or keep fighting no matter what. I saw a quote that said "Perseverance is just stubbornness with a purpose". What is your purpose? What is God calling you to?

Sometimes changing your perspective enhances your ability to lean on God and persevere at your fullest potential. Take a moment to look at the difficult things of life and understand that God must be doing something mighty big for the enemy to be trying to slow you down. God could also be trying to get your attention today. Take time to focus on Him and persevere in the pursuit of the calling He has placed on your life!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Many of you know, I LOVE Katy Nichole! This song has been on my mind lately, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts.

"God is in this story, God is in the details, Even in the broken parts,
He holds my heart, He never fails, When I'm at my weakest, I will trust in Jesus, Always in the highs and lows, The One who goes before me, God is in this story"

In Luke chapter 24, Jesus had just risen and conquered death. There are two men walking down the road. They are ironically talking about Jesus when He appears to them, but in verse 16 it tells us, "they were kept from recognizing Him." Long story short, they had the privilege of walking and talking with Jesus, and they didn't even recognize that He was there... We do that to Him sometimes don't we? We often allow ourselves to get too busy, caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, or we are too focused on the situation or season we are in.

It is easy to see God and praise Him when we are high on the mountain. In those valley moments, things get a little more difficult. It is harder to see God's hand working in those seasons. Later in Luke 24, they realized that it was Jesus by their side the whole time. Whether it feels like He is there or not, I promise God has not abandoned you, He is with you, He is in every word and every page of your story. All you have to do is call out to your Heavenly Father, look toward Him rather than the situation, and lean on Him as your Comforter and Protector.

"When you forgive someone who has wronged you, you are free from bitterness and resentment that can saturate your soul like toxic waste." ~Candace Cameron Bure
I’m sure you get tired of seeing all the “forgive and forget” posts. I do too. How are you supposed to forgive someone when you can’t forget? When the hurt is still all too real? Forgiveness is something I really struggle with, but there are a few things we must remember...
Peter tells us that they “hurled” insults at Jesus. Of all the words he could have used here, he chose that word. It is no coincidence. Their words were meant to hurt Jesus. His body was already broken physically, so their words were meant to break Him down emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually. How did Jesus retaliate? He didn’t. Luke tells us that He, in His agonizing pain, chose to intercede for them. Bloody, beaten, dying. He likely struggled to even take a breath, but He chose to speak. Not in contempt, but in intercession, saying “Father, forgive them...” The very same people that put Him on that cross were the people He was dying to save... just like us. I know it is easy to say, “Well, I am not Jesus”. Very true.
Jesus died on the cross, not just for you to have the opportunity to be in Heaven with Him one day, but also for that person you are holding that grudge against to have the same opportunity as you. No matter what you have done in the past, His love and grace allow you to have a second chance. His grace is abundant, it is not selective. After He was brutally beaten, mocked, and hung on the cross, Jesus chose to say, “Father, forgive them...” He did not hate them. He didn’t retaliate or plot His revenge. As we saw earlier, He intervened on their behalf. He asked His Father in Heaven to forgive them after all the horrible and merciless things they had done to Him. That is the love of God, the love He has for all of us, and the love we should have for others.
Forgiveness is when you give up resentment and it is replaced with relief. It is a very powerful act and an expression of love. Forgiveness is critical to being happy and having a healthy relationship with God. Allowing ourselves to forgive someone is sometimes an extremely difficult thing to do, but holding onto that grudge and storing that anger, bitterness, sadness, and pain in our hearts only hurts us, and it eventually causes us to drift from God. When we are so preoccupied with holding onto that grudge and bitterness, we can’t give our whole heart to Him. As humans, we think forgiveness makes us look weak, but as Christians, we know it makes us stronger because we are growing closer to God.
Everyone says, “forgive and forget”. We are supposed to forgive others, it’s what God has commanded us to do. Forgiving allows us to move on, let go of that grudge and that pain, and grow closer to God. Unfortunately, forgetting means we completely forget about the pain that was inflicted on us and allow ourselves to go back to the way things were. This allows others to continuously treat us the way they did before and hurt us again and again. It is okay to protect yourself. Instead of “forgive and forget”, we should “let go and let God”. Let go of that grudge and work through that pain, and let God take over your heart, your whole heart. Let God take over your life. Forgiving allows us to obtain that sense of relief and relinquish our grasp on the bitterness and anger, ultimately bringing us closer to God. God’s love for us is immeasurable, and through Him, our love for others shouldn’t have a limit either. In Matthew 18, Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive someone who sins against him, saying, “…should it be seven times?”. Jesus responds saying, “No, not seven times… but seventy times seven”.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”~ Ephesians 4:31-32

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control".

Fear doesn't come from God. KJV uses "sound mind" instead of "self-control". The things of the world are used to clutter our minds, causing us to fear, worry, and stress. Fear chains us to what makes us feel "safe" and "comfortable", but Faith breaks those chains and connects us with God, our Comforter and Protector! We're not supposed to be comfortable in whatever situation we're in, we're supposed to be comfortable with God in ANY situation. We're to understand that He is preparing us for what He has prepared for us. We're not to have any fear or worries. We're to show love to others. We're to show them the power of God and what He's done in our lives, so that they see God and want to join us in this walk with Him and allow Him to change their lives as well. The world casts fear, shame, worry, and doubt into our lives, but our Mighty God holds the world in His hands!

"The God Who Stays" by Matthew West!

"You're the God who stays; You're the One who runs in my direction; when the whole world walks away; You're the God who stands with wide open arms; And you tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart from the God who stays"

Nothing we do or have done can separate us from God and His love and forgiveness. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, "Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever." GODS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!! Nothing can separate us from the unwavering love of God!! ❤️

God will give you more than you can bear. Read that again. If we could bear it all on our own, we wouldn't need God.

That's why when we feel overwhelmed, when we feel like everything going on in life is weighing us down, we are to give it all over to God and trust Him. All the stress, the worry, the doubt. We're to give it ALL to Him! Just as 1 Peter 5:7 tells us, we are to cast all of our anxieties on Him, because He cares for us. Isaiah 41:10 says, "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand". Fear, stress, worry, doubt... it can all weigh us down. But when we give it all to God, He strengthens us and takes that weight off. In the song "Where I End" by Colton Dixon, it says "I'm not scared, cause You are where I end". When we feel like we can't keep going, when we're ready to give up, God is still right there beside us ready to strengthen us, hold us, and help us as we walk with Him. If you have time to stress over it, you have time to pray about it!

I know this is easier said than done sometimes. The emotions and thoughts that we endure can be so loud and chaotic. Sometimes, they seem to be too loud for you to hear the voice of God and too big for you to control on your own. No matter what you’re dealing with, take time to talk to Him. Pray to Him and worship Him. When something is standing in your path and causing you strife, always remember, your Goliath is standing in the shadow of the Almighty!

I was doing some research and I found this rather interesting and wanted to share. Matthew 6:22 says, "Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body is filled with light." The word "eye" in this verse is also referring to the "faculty of knowing". This refers to how we perform our mental or conscious operations: our will, our ability to reason, our instincts. The original word for "light" in this verse is the same as a candle or a lamp.

Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." The original word for "light" in this verse is the same word that is used for the sun, moon, and stars, as well as the light of life, prosperity, and instruction. It is the same word used for light in Genesis when God spoke the Day into existence, (Genesis 1:3 "And God said, let there be light: and there was light"). HOW AMAZING IS THAT?!

We have the ability to make our own decisions which can have deep effects on us and others, both good and bad. The "light" that our eyes, or our mind, provides to our lives is dim, only enough light to go one step at a time. This is extremely important to keep us going in the right direction, but it does not necessarily get us to our precise destination. Meanwhile, the "light" that God and His Word provides in our lives is brilliant, enough to light up our lives for all eternity. This is why it is important to trust God, follow Him, read His Word, and be diligent to Him and His directions.

As Genesis 1:4 tells us, "God divided the light from the darkness". He can do this in our lives as well. Only HE can lead us in the right direction to bring others to Him, fulfill His Will, and get us to our heavenly destination. ❤️

God has a plan for each and every one of our lives. Jeremiah 1:7-8 says, "... do not say ‘I am only a youth'; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord."

Don't let any one say you're too young, too old, too “this”, or too “that” to follow your dreams, to do what God has commanded you. If it is God's will for your life, He will provide a way. The devil will use any tactic he can to try to stop you from doing God's will and convince you you're not strong enough, not good enough, just not enough. Don’t use an excuse to give up on what He has called you to do. Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..."

God already knows our future, it's up to us to take that step when He calls us... no matter how young or how old! Step out of your comfort zone! Be comfortable with God, not your situation, because when that situation, no matter what it may be, passes... God is still going to be right there!

As the waves were crashing and the wind blew, the disciples began to grow more and more afraid. Everything in that moment was dark and felt unstable. They were concerned, nervous, and terrified. Doubt crept in and even though they were together, they probably felt alone, like no one else knew what they were dealing with and no one was coming to help. Have you ever felt that way before? Doubt, fear, guilt, loneliness?

Matthew 14:29 says,
“He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.”

Jesus commanded and Peter obeyed. Peter saw Jesus. He heard Jesus. His fear was defeated, he took a step of faith, and he walked on water. What a powerful moment! But what happens in the very next verse?

Matthew 14:30-33 says,
“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’”

He took his eyes off Jesus, and immediately the fear set in and he began to sink. He wasn’t focused on His Savior, His Comforter, His Protector. Instead, Peter focused on the storm. Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in fear? In doubt? In your false identity? In guilt or shame? Sometimes we allow ourselves to focus on so many things the world has to offer, we forget to focus on the One Who created world itself. We get so overwhelmed. We panic. We doubt.

As I look back on things I’ve dealt with in my own life, I can see God’s hand in all of it. At the time, I couldn’t see Him, but that doesn’t mean He wasn’t there. I had turned my back on Him and wasn’t looking for Him. I wasn’t focusing on Him. I allowed myself to focus on the circumstances, not the Savior. It is easy to see God and to rejoice and glorify Him when things are going really well in our lives. What about those times when we are terrified about what’s next, when we feel broken, when we don’t feel like we’re enough, when we feel alone, when we are overwhelmed by whatever storm we are facing at the time, when we are hurting? He’s still right there with us. Choosing to focus on Him and not the storm is an everyday task, but it is so worth it. Notice, Jesus never left Peter. Peter chose to focus on the situation and circumstances around him. When Peter cried out to Jesus, he was saved. Maybe you need to cry out to your Savior, reach for your Protector, and lean on your Comforter today. I promise, He is much closer than you think, and He will NEVER leave you. Maybe He is the one calling out to you, commanding you to move forward with a calling He’s placed on your life, but all you see is the storm and you’re scared to take that step. God doesn’t call you when you’re ready, He calls you when He is! He prepares you as you go, and He will never leave you! ❤️

Life gets hard. Things get difficult. You feel tired, worn out, or broken. You feel like nothing is going right, there is so much uncertainty, and you are spiraling. That mountain seems unmovable. The weight of everything you are trying to carry becomes unbearable.
There is Someone who can move that mountain and carry all that weight. There is Someone who cares about you, even when everyone else seems to have disappeared. There is Someone who can see the best in you, the potential, when all you see is a mess.
That Someone is God, and He can be your rescue story! That mountain, all of that weight you are trying to bear may be stress, anxiety, depression, guilt, fear, doubt, or worry. It may be brokenness and uncertainty. It may be the pain of a friendship or relationship falling apart. Whatever it may be, you do not have to deal with it alone. You don't have to go through it alone. You are not alone! God is right there! Call out to Him! Psalm 107:6 says,
"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress." Don't give up, don't withdraw from the fight, don't give in, don't act out. Don't let it cause you any more pain. He hears you, and He will help you. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you." Give it all to Him, cry out to Him! He can move the mountain that seems unmovable. He can carry the weight of it all. Don't make any more excuses. Don't say, "I'm not good enough",
"God cant use me", “I've drifted to far to be saved" "I cant". These words are excuses the enemy uses to cause anxiety and make you doubt yourself and God. Don't doubt God, He has a plan that is greater than you could ever imagine. Even if He doesn't move that mountain, you have to have faith in Him. His plan is bigger than that mountain. HE is bigger than that mountain. You can get through whatever you are struggling with, with God! Pray to Him and walk with Him. He is there for you. He is your strength, your Comforter, Fighter, and Protector. He will never stop fighting for you, He will make you a survivor. Give it all to Him. ❤️
