Foster notes:
Clyde is doing awesome. He was up for challenging my alpha status yesterday but didn't get away with it and was easy to convince things had not changed. LOL

He is very smart, but easily distracted and when distracted seems to pretend he is deaf. (SOUNDS LIKE A NORMAL DOG -LOL) Buying a whistle today. That's what the trainer uses when distractions occur. We will see if I'm up for the job!

When Diamond Dogs Rescue first saved me, they not only had me all checked out by the vet....
They had a trainer evaluate me so that and adopter would know my BASIC personality.

The rest is up to you and setting my boundaries, and teaching me. I'm Ready for That! In fact. If you check out my fosters updates and this page you will see how much better I am even now! JUST IMAGINE!

FOSTER UPDATE
He is very smart and wants to please. We have sit and get in the back down. Working on come. Then better leash walking. He doesn’t pull but walks in the right and trips you up once in a while.

He will do fabulously with a dog friend to play with and a fenced in yard to play in. Doing great with the bigger crate. He sits with just a finger tap on his back. He’s just a great dog and quiet. He would also do great with a jogger or hiker. Loves to walk, run and play.

He's really a wonderful boy. So Sweet

PS...I loved the picture of him with all the puppies!

FOSTER UPDATE:

Well, I think he’s got the potty outside jig! No accidents. Yay Clyde. He’s doing great with the trainer and should be starting daycare a couple days a week this week. He has been on 6 trained dog pack walks/socialization runs. He comes back to me 100% when it’s just us but I’m still scared every time. He’s a very happy boy.

Foster mom update:

Clyde has had 3 opportunities this week to do a pack walk, social play group with a local trainer. He has done great! Today, we went out to several locations to walk and play. He worked with the training lead with 100% recall and then was off leash for 20 minutes with 100% recall. We went to a very large ball field with the intent of leash walking.

He is doing well with house training. I’m not sure he spent much time in a house honestly. He likes his crate and goes in and out independently all day. I only close it when I’m busy doing something to keep him from puppy trouble and at night. Tomorrow I will be leaving him alone for a couple hours, crated of course. I’m going to a birthday party at a restaurant so he can’t come. I’ll tire him out before I go. Still no barking. I think a couple more weeks of training and he is going to be a champ!

FOSTER UPDATE- Feb 15th

Well, our boy is doing fantastic. He had a socialization training yesterday and today an off leash pack run with the dogs he played with yesterday. He did great! Kept his eye on me most of the time which the trainer said was wonderful. He came back when called and ran like the wind with the other trained dogs in the pack. It was just wonderful. I wished I had my phone to video him but I stupidly left it in the car.
He is exhausted and I didn’t have to walk 5 miles to accomplish it.

FOSTER UPDATE:

Perfect day today! No accidents, out with me doing errands - perfect in the car. Nice long walk near the river and a visit with my dad. Last night he went to Super Bowl at my brothers. He was an angel but he was up a little later than he wanted to be due to OT.

Information on continued crate training in his new environment was followed.
He wants to play with my cat, Gizmo, but he’s not having it. They were both sound asleep with me in the recliner last night. I have only been crating him at bedtime. I will try increasing that time.

So the housebreaking was an initial problem.....and his foster mom began to work on that with trainer advice and implementation.

Initial message,
Toni this little boy is an absolute darling but he is not housebroken. No matter how long I keep him outside, how far I walk him, he urinates in the house several times a day and he has had a two episodes of pooping in the house. He does not go to the bathroom on walks. He sniffs a lot but does not go. He does go in the corner of my backyard but if I take my eyes off of him for a second, he sneaks off and pees or poops someplace. He’s very sensitive to correction and becomes anxious and sad. I’m just not sure if I’m doing something wrong or what. I’ve tried taking him out every hour but he should be past that and he doesn’t always go when I take him out. I know it’s only been 3 days and perhaps he is still traumatized from transport. Do you have any ideas?

No the transition wasn't perfect. The first week of the foster learning about Clyde, and him learning boundaries and expectations was a little bit of work on both parts. But, it didn't take long for him to "get it" and fit in pretty nicely!
All in all......
Absolute angel. We went for a 3 mile stroll. Scared of traffic, wonderful with other dogs and wanting to check out all the kids at the park. No pulling whatsoever. Listens and stops dead when you say no. Totally nonreactive to my cats. Not a bark out of him yet. He wanted to play with the squirrels at the park but didn’t try to yank or take off. Sweet as can be.
