Game #1 has begun. If you're looking for a distraction that allows you to connect with people, come play the game! Check out the QuaranTeam Building page for official rules.

***GAME #1***

Challenge: Easy
Run time: 48 hours

Hey Friends! It's game time!! Here is your first Social (Distancing) Bingo card! Take a look, make a plan and get social!! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

A reminder on the rules...

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOCIAL (DISTANCING) BINGO GAME.

GAME #1 WILL OPEN AT NOON PACIFIC ON MONDAY 3/23 AND RUN FOR 48 HOURS.

***HOW TO PLAY THE GAME***

THE RULES:

-Download/save/print the Bingo sheet when it is released.
-Each box in the Bingo sheet will have an "ask" or a "task" prompt. For the "ask" prompts, choose someone to call or video chat or talk to in person (if you're already living with them) and either ask the question or do the activity (no text or email, we're practicing social skills dang it!)
-Some of the "task" prompts are things you'll do with the QuaranTeam Building community. Most likely uploading videos of you being silly or honest in some way.
-You can choose to talk to anyone, they don't have to be playing the game, although you can encourage them to!
-If you talk to someone who is playing the game, they can either ask you the same question or a different one during this same conversation.
-After the question is answered you can write or draw their name (physically or digitally) and the date in the box that you used
-Once you have put someones name in the box you cannot use that person for any other boxes for 24 hours. (hence writing the date as well) This means you have to talk to multiple people!
-When you have completed a "task", you write the date and time in that box.

HOW TO WIN:
-Instead of just going for a row or a column, we're going for ultimate socializing here, you win when you black out your entire bingo card
-When you've finished filling in name for all your boxes, upload a picture of your filled out card with the comment "Bingo!" on the QuaranTeam Building page. There will be a specific post waiting for you, upload the pic into the comments.
-We are trying to promote genuine social connection here and not just "a check list" to mark off. Any finished cards uploaded in the first 12 hours will not count!
-The first 5 winners will get to help pick a question or action for the next round of Social Bingo.

Things to consider:
-Yes, this is a competition, however, it's also a tool to help you be more social. You can try to race through or, you can take the time to authentically check in with people.
-You can definitely let people know you're playing the game and explain that's why you have a 'random' question for them. This might become especially important in subsequent games as we plan on making the actions and questions more vulnerable.
-This is supposed to be a fun, interesting way to interact. Please keep an open mind when you ask people questions. This is an opportunity to learn more about the people you love... or even just like. Or kind of tolerate. This is social emotional learning people! Be kind to each other.
-Don't be afraid to reach out to people who have little rapport with. The question might prompt a further conversation, or, if the conversation feels stressed or awkward, just thank the person and tell them you're going to keep playing the game and you'll talk to them later.

Hey CCNers, our friends and neighbors at Challenge Works in Santa Cruz have a training coming up and they asked if we could spread the word. See the attached flyer for more information. Also, they had this to say:

"Join the Challenge Works team this spring for a great week of developing new skills, brushing up on techniques, exchanging best practices, and networking with other challenge course professionals. Over five days, we'll provide forty hours of training, culminating with a day of certification testing. This training is ideal for program managers seeking to further their skill set in a variety of operating systems as well as facilitators and techs seeking to learn advanced technical skills in a variety of operating systems, including dynamic, static, ziplines, climbing walls, and more."
