This handsome guy appreciates a good treat and isn't shy about showing his enthusiasm for one.

But there's more to Gomer than his love of snacks!

When shelter volunteer Traci spent some time with him recently, she discovered that he also loves attention. And when they headed out for a walk? Gomer was a gentleman on the leash, walking nicely without pulling.

๐—ข๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ.

Tomorrow, October 22, will mark one full year since Dumpling arrived at the Morrow County Dog Shelter.

Four seasons. Birthdays, holidays, ordinary Tuesdays.

An entire year of life passing by while Dumpling waits for a home of her own.

Dumpling is a senior girl with a sweet, gentle side. She enjoys the quieter things in life: a comfortable place to rest, a leisurely walk, and simply spending time with someone. She knows some basic commands, too, and tries her best to please.

But don't let the gray muzzle fool you. Dumpling still has some pep in her step and loves playing with her toys! In fact, she even earned the shelter's title for โ€œMost Likely to Be a Player.โ€ โค๏ธ

She's not going to be the right dog for every home, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ.

One person who looks at that gray muzzle and doesn't see a dog whose best years are behind her.

One person who understands that older dogs still have love to give, companionship to offer, and good days ahead of them.

One person who thinks maybe the next chapter could still be pretty darn good. โค๏ธ

Have you ever thought about volunteering at the Morrow County Dog Shelter? ๐Ÿพ

Whether you'd like to walk dogs, assist with projects, or support the shelter in other ways, this mandatory volunteer training class is your first step.

The next training class will be held on Saturday, October 31. Please see the graphic for full details. PLEASE NOTE: The time for this training class is 11AM - 12PM (a change from the usual 1PM to 2PM time slot).

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer by attending the class, please call the shelter in advance to let them know you're coming so they can plan appropriately for the class size and make any necessary accommodations.

He's lived in a home before. For more than two years, in fact.

He knows about living with people, having a routine, and being part of a family.

He's housetrained, knows basic commands, walks nicely on a leash, and at seven years old, he's got that calm, easygoing personality that makes him such a favorite with the shelter folks.

Oh, and he's 90 pounds of affection, slobber, and that ridiculously lovable face. ๐Ÿ˜‚

He's been at the Morrow County Dog Shelter since June 2025. That's more than 15 months.

He's still the same gentle hound we've introduced you to before.

Still a good boy. Still waiting for someone who might see something special in him.

And sometimes, that's really all there is to say.

Not every dog has a funny new adventure or an exciting training update to share. Some are simply waiting for their chance to be someone's dog.

Atticus would like to introduce himself. ๐Ÿ˜‚

He's an energetic, friendly guy who enjoys getting out, exploring, and making the most of his time away from the shelter.

He's not exactly a sit-around-and-watch-the-world-go-by kind of dog. Atticus has enthusiasm to spare, and he'd love the opportunity to share some of it with someone.
