Maybe your idea of a good day looks a little more like Dumpling's. ❤️

A nice walk.

A comfortable place to land afterward.

A few toys when the mood strikes.

Some treats, obviously.

And plenty of time just enjoying the company of your person.

Dumpling is a senior girl whose shelter bio describes her as happiest with the quieter things in life: soft beds, slow strolls and calm company.

And maybe that's exactly what someone else is looking for, too.

Volunteer Traci describes Dumpling as sweet and a wonderful walker. She takes treats nicely, knows some basic commands, and the shelter says she enjoys playing with toys.

She can be strong on leash, and there's one important qualifier to that "wonderful walker" review: Dumpling does best when other dogs aren't around.

The shelter has found that she hasn't clicked with most of the dogs she's met there. But because the shelter environment can be stressful, relaxed meet and greets can be arranged for anyone who already has a dog and would like to see whether there might be a match.

Her history with cats and children is unknown.

Dumpling may not be the dog for every household.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱.

And somewhere out there might be someone whose idea of a pretty great life also involves a peaceful walk, a comfy couch, a few toys and a sweet older girl to share it all with.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 "𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝘆."

Well...a lot more is known about Boris now. ❤️

Boris was adopted for a short time earlier this year, but through no fault of his own, he was returned and is once again available. He is currently participating in the prison dog program.

Since then, updates from the program have given us a much better picture of who Boris really is.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗺, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀. ❤️

His handlers describe Boris as confident and happy. He's a quick learner, eager to learn, responsive to training, and now knows many commands.

He loves being around his people.

He loves being outside.

He loves playing fetch. 🎾

His handlers have noted that Boris can sometimes be reactive toward certain dogs when he's on leash or behind a fence. Otherwise, they describe him as well behaved.

In fact, one of their reports sums him up pretty simply:

Sometimes it takes time to really get to know a shelter dog.

With Boris, that time has revealed a smart, playful, well-trained guy who enjoys his people and would be perfectly happy spending an afternoon outside with someone willing to keep throwing the ball. 🎾

And those ears?

We're pretty sure they're picking up signals from three counties away. 😂

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼. ❤️

We certainly do.

Domino first arrived at the Morrow County Dog Shelter in October 2022.

And he waited.

For more than a year and a half, volunteers walked him, loved on him, took his picture, wrote about him, and tried to help people see what they saw in him.

He became a volunteer favorite. The handsome meatball with the full-body happy wiggles. The affectionate, playful guy who knew sit and shake, took treats nicely, enjoyed his walks and, apparently, even loved a good bath. 😂

Then, in May 2024, it finally happened.

𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱. ❤️

He spent more than two years living in a home.

But after a significant change in his adopter's life, Domino was recently returned to the shelter.

And so, once again, we'd like you to meet Domino.

Except this time, we know quite a bit more about him.

𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆. He's housetrained, knows basic commands, and lived in a home with a child.

He's now a big boy at more than 70 pounds.

Domino can be selective about his doggy friends, so the shelter believes he would be happiest as the only dog in his new home. His history with cats is unknown.

And while some of those details are new, the Domino we remember sounds pretty darn familiar.

Friendly.

Affectionate.

Smart.

And always very happy to see his people. ❤️

There's something we hope will be different this time, though.

That's how one of Cinnamon's recent updates from the prison dog program begins.

And honestly, the rest doesn't sound too bad either.

She's good. She's obedient. She loves to play with people.

𝗔𝗻𝗱, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀. 🐶❤️

That's especially nice to hear because the shelter's original bio also described her as being great with other dogs. That's not information we often have about shelter dogs, but we know it about Cinnamon.

And when playtime is over?

𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿. 🥹❤️

Cinnamon can still be timid or skittish with unfamiliar people and situations. That's part of who she is, and she may need a little patience while she figures out that she's safe.

But the people spending their days with her are getting to see what waits on the other side of that uncertainty.

A playful dog.

A loving dog.

A dog who enjoys the company of other dogs.

And a girl who apparently takes cuddling very seriously.

Cinnamon has been in the care of the Morrow County Dog Shelter since March and is currently participating in the prison dog program.

That time has given the people working with her a chance to really get to know her.

And the more they learn about Cinnamon, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀. ❤️

As if dogs needed their own day to convince us they're wonderful. 😂

Today seems like a pretty good day to celebrate the dogs who make us laugh, steal our blankets, take up entirely too much room in our beds, supervise everything we eat, and somehow become such an enormous part of our lives. ❤️

And it's also a good day to remember the dogs who are still waiting for someone to do all of those things with.

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘁. ❤️

You haven't seen much of this handsome boy on our page lately, but that's about to change.

Hamlet has actually been in the care of the Morrow County Dog Shelter since May and is currently participating in the prison dog program.

So what have we learned about the guy behind that very handsome face?

Hamlet is a 1-year-old Lab mix weighing about 70 pounds.

He's energetic.

He's playful.

He's a wiggler. 😂

He loves to run and play, and sometimes all that youthful enthusiasm gets the better of him and he forgets what he's supposed to be doing. He's looking for someone with the patience and energy to keep up with him while helping him continue to learn.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿: 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀. 🐶❤️

We don't currently have information about how he does with kids or cats.

Hamlet isn't presenting himself as a finished product. He's a young, fun, energetic dog who's still learning how to be his best self.

The actual bath?

No problem.

Coco stood there like the very good girl she is and happily let Martha get the job done.

But then came 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝘆.

And apparently that's when bath day becomes SPA DAY. 😂

A little rub here. A little massage there. Maybe get behind the ears, please. And don't feel like you need to rush this part, Martha.

Honestly, we can't blame her.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗭𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗮? ❤️

We've shared a lot of photos of Zelda on this page.

Zelda at the shelter. Zelda's prison updates. Zelda waiting. Zelda hoping somebody would notice her.

Well...

𝗪𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴. 😂❤️

These days, Zelda can apparently be found sleeping in a king-size bed, head on a pillow and tucked UNDER the blankets like the civilized lady she is.

She's been lounging in the pool on a floatie. Wearing sunglasses, naturally. 😎

She's gone for car rides with enough toys in the back seat to suggest she's packed for an extended vacation.

She's claimed couch space.

Basically, Zelda appears to have landed herself one heck of a retirement package. 😂

Her family has been sharing photos of her adventures, and every time we see another one, it makes us smile.

Because 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 is what we're hoping for every time we put one of those shelter faces on your screen.

Not just an adoption.

𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

A bed to sleep in. A couch to claim. Car rides. Adventures. Ridiculous sunglasses. Someone taking way too many pictures because they can't help themselves.

Someone who loves having that dog there.

Zelda got lucky.

And from the looks of these pictures, we have a feeling her family would probably say they did too. ❤️

𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. ❤️

Dasher arrived at the Morrow County Dog Shelter back in January.

Since then, seasons have changed. Other dogs have come and gone. And somehow, this fun little 41-pound guy is still waiting.

But here's the nice thing about dogs:

Dasher isn't counting the months.

Give him a walk and he's ready for an adventure. Give him a chance to stop along the way and he'll happily demonstrate his famous sploot. Give him something interesting to investigate and he's got places to go and things to sniff.

He has a slight limp from an old, already-healed injury, but it doesn't stop him from enjoying himself. It's simply part of the wonderfully imperfect package that is Dasher.

𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

He's just waiting for someone to give him a life outside the shelter.

Someone to take the walks.

Someone to share the adventures.

Someone who won't mind stopping occasionally for a good sploot in the grass. ❤️

Dasher has been at the shelter for a while now, and we think he's more than ready to find out what comes next.
