Meet Obi. ๐Ÿพ

Obi is a young Rottweiler mix currently available through the Morrow County Dog Shelter.

As with many large, powerful dogs, the shelter is committed to finding the right match for Obi and will be carefully screening potential adopters to ensure a successful placement.

We don't have an official bio for him yet, but if you have experience with large breeds and would like to learn more about Obi, we encourage you to contact the shelter directly. The shelter staff can answer questions about his personality, needs, and the type of home they feel would be the best fit.

Obi is a striking young dog with a big presence and a bright future ahead of him in the right home.

Atticus has been waiting since last fall.

That's a long time for a dog like this.

A volunteer recently spent some time with him and snapped this photo, and what stands out isn't how handsome he is (although he certainly is).

It's how engaged he is.

Atticus wants to be part of what's happening. He wants to go, do, explore, learn, and spend time with people. He's the kind of dog who is ready to be involved in your life, whether that's a walk around the neighborhood, a hike, a road trip, or just hanging out in the backyard.

He's not looking for a couch potato lifestyle.

He's looking for a teammate.

And after all these months of waiting, we'd really love to see him find one.

We'd like to introduce you to Bruno's smile. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿพ

A volunteer recently spent some time with Bruno and managed to capture a photo that tells you just about everything you need to know about him.

Look at that face.

Bruno is the kind of dog who seems genuinely happy to be included. A walk? Great. Some attention? Even better. A chance to spend time with people? That's his favorite thing of all.

At around 5 years old, Bruno has left the puppy chaos behind but still has plenty of life, love, and tail wags to share. He enjoys walks, knows some commands, has been around other dogs and children, and would happily settle into family life again.

The only thing missing is a family to share it with.

Some dogs always seem to find a reason to smile. Isaiah is one of them. ๐Ÿพ

A volunteer recently spent some time with Isaiah and managed to capture this photo, which pretty much sums him up perfectly.

Happy. Friendly. Ready for whatever comes next.

Whether he's playing with toys, spending time with people, or simply enjoying a little time outside, Isaiah seems to approach life with an enthusiasm that's hard not to love.

The funny thing is that while Isaiah makes friends wherever he goes, he's still waiting for the one thing he wants most: a family of his own.

We think that smile would look pretty good greeting someone at the door every day.

Valdo would like everyone to know that he spent part of his volunteer adventure posing for photos yesterday. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿพ

He would also like everyone to know that nobody told him there was a deer fly on his nose.

Despite this minor inconvenience, Valdo remained focused on the important things in life: enjoying his outing, spending time with people, and being his usual handsome self. ๐Ÿ˜„

Volunteers describe Valdo as a great dog to spend time with. He already knows some commands, walks nicely on a leash, and clearly enjoys getting out and exploring.

Most importantly, he's still waiting for a family of his own.

Itโ€™s usโ€”the dogs at the shelterโ€”writing with hopeful hearts...
Weโ€™re running low on some really important supplies right now, and could use a little help from our amazing dog-loving community. Weโ€™re almost out of Pedigree Chopped canned dog food (any flavor), Victor Multi Pro dog food, Bleach for cleaning, and 100% Canned Pumpkin (it helps settle our bellies and keeps us feeling our best).
We know times are busy for everyone, but even one can of food makes a real difference. Seriously. One can = one happy doggo meal, and that means the world to us.

Someone needs to come get Kona. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿพ

A volunteer was at the shelter yesterday working on a project and walked through the kennel area.

Kona wasn't barking. She wasn't jumping. She wasn't demanding attention.

She simply walked up to the front of her kennel and quietly asked for a few pets.

And honestly? It was hard to walk away.

Kona is beautiful. Her coat practically shines, her eyes are full of kindness, and she has the kind of calm, gentle presence that makes you stop and spend a little extra time with her.

She's been waiting far too long for a family of her own.

Maybe the person who needs to see Kona is reading this right now.

Toast looks like he just overheard some very interesting gossip. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿพ

This affectionate 2-year-old is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in whatever you're doing. Going for a walk? He's in. Watching TV? He's in. Taking a nap? He's definitely in.

Toast is a people-loving velcro dog who thrives on attention and companionship. He doesn't just want a home, he wants to be part of the family.

He's currently in the Prison Training Program, where he's continuing to learn and prepare for his future home. In the meantime, he's perfecting important skills like cuddling and keeping an eye on everything happening around him. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’” A URGENT special request from our shelter dogs at Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, OH...
We're facing an unexpected extreme shortage of food after our latest shipment was delayed, and we're almost out of Victor Multi-Pro dog food.
Right now, we're asking our community to please help us bridge the gap until our order arrives.
If you're able to help, donations of Victor Multi-Pro can be left outside our front door on Thursday or Friday. Even though the shelter is closed to the public, staff will be there throughout the day caring for the dogs and will collect donations as they are able. Donations can also be dropped off Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Every bag helps. Every share helps. And every act of kindness means another dog gets a full bowl.

Nina's face says it all.
"Are you coming to get me, or what?" ๐Ÿ’•

She's been working hard in the Prison Training Program, learning skills and preparing for life with a family of her own.

She's beautiful, affectionate, and has been waiting far longer than a dog like her should have to wait.

We know her person is out there somewhere.
