Robin (private rehoming)'s Story

Meet Robin, a 2 yr old, 60 # Black Lab/Border Collie mix who is, quite simply, a total goober. Goofy, expressive, naturally funny, and always ready to brighten the room with his antics. His family loves him deeply, but after a recent move and human health challenges, theyve made the heartbreaking decision to find him a home better suited to his needs. The family lucky enough to add Robin to their lives will gain an incredible companion with so much to offer. He is located in Bellingham, Washington (less than 90 min from Seattle).

If youve heard the expression personality plus it was no doubt in reference to Robin. Hes sweet, cuddly, and loyal. Whether hes proudly adding to his daily stick collection or inventing a new game, he brings an effortless charm to everything he does. Loves playing with his people: fetch, puzzles, you name it. Whip-smart, eager to learn, and motivated to please. Mastered basic obedience skills, crate trained, and walks nicely on leash after the excitement of the outing wears off a bit.

If youre an outdoorsy soul, Robin is your perfect match. Hes an adventure buddy with plenty of energy for hikes, camping, and weekend exploring. Daily exercise is the way to his heart, and an occasional bigger excursion is icing on the cake. When activity winds down, hes ready to enjoy cuddle time with his favorite people.

Robin is a fit for families with older kids and has lived with cats in the past. He gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine companion in his new home or could be an only dog. Find a video mashup of his adventures at https://youtu.be/ZBva0eIoGMU

Robins health is managed through a hydrolyzed protein diet to keep his sensitive tummy stable. He takes seizure-prevention medication for episodes that occur roughly twice per year. The total cost for his specialized food and medication is about $180/mo, which is certainly a consideration for his new family. The return on investment is incalculable: its the reward of sharing life with an extraordinary dog.

If youre looking for a bright, affectionate, endlessly entertaining companion, Robin may just be the perfect addition to your family. He cant wait to bring laughter, love, and lots of his precious sticks into his new home.

Finch is one very special boy. This cheerful 5-month-old, 21 # Border Collie is equal parts thoughtful companion, eager student, and playful puppy. He is as loyal as they come and wants to form a special connection and make his people smile every day.

Finch likes to think things through before diving in. New experiences don’t scare him; he prefers to sit back, observe, and process the world at his own pace. Once comfortable, his happy personality shines brightly. At home, he greets visitors enthusiastically and loves being close to his humans.

Like any good Border Collie, Finch loves learning. It’s a pleasure to watch him figure things out on his own. Tug is a favorite game, and he retrieves like a pro. He can turn just about anything into a toy and always ready for a little fun. After exercise or playtime, he settles beautifully… now it’s time to cuddle! His energy level is nicely balanced – he is active and engaged without being overwhelming.

Finch is mastering house training and gives clear signals when he needs to go outside. He needs potty breaks every few hours. He sleeps through the night in his crate and happily runs to it when asked: it’s his cozy, safe space. He’s also doing “Fintastic” on leash! He wants to take his people to obedience classes and hopes they bring good treats!

His ideal family will be patient, active, and understanding of his thoughtful nature. Strong preference for families with Border Collie experience and a friendly, confident canine sibling in the home to guide him and boost his confidence. Older, respectful kids would suit him best, while chaotic or pushy environments would not.

Finch is an incredibly lifelong companion in the making. Are you the lucky one to add him to your family?

APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt

First, his looks catch your eye. Then you learn about his personality and you’re hooked! Blaze is a 54 #, 5-year-old Border Collie with a sunny personality and a zest for life that's as bright as a perfect summer day. He thinks every day should include a game of fetch or frisbee and plenty of time spent with his favorite people.

Happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and adventurous, Blaze loves being part of the action, whether that's a morning walk, a trip to the park, or a backyard barbecue. His energy level is a wonderful balance: he's always ready for fun and activity, and he's equally happy to relax and enjoy downtime with his family afterward.

Blaze would thrive with an active, herding breed-experienced family that appreciates both his intelligence and enthusiasm. He walks beautifully on leash without pulling and is well-socialized in the world. He's crate trained and keeps four on the floor. He knows a few basic obedience commands and wants to learn more. With his smarts, a little time and some good treats, and we bet he can learn anything!

A fenced yard would be ideal for Blaze so he has room to stretch his legs and enjoy his favorite games. He can happily live as an only dog or with a canine companion. He is a herding dog, which includes nipping at ankles if given the opportunity. Families with older kids are the best fit – no littles, please. He is a bit too “in your face” with cats and would prefer a cat-free home.

Blaze will be an even happier boy when he loses roughly 7-8 lbs.

If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy who will happily join you for all of life's summer fun, and then curl up nearby when the day is done, Blaze may be your perfect match! APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt

Cayden is a sweet 5-year-old, 42 # miracle pup. Doctors once said he wouldn’t live past 6 months, and now he’s preparing for a balloon angioplasty that will help him live a normal, happy life. Here’s what he has to say:

Hi, I’m Cayden. I’m an Australian Shepherd with luxurious hair, soulful eyes, and a deep love for my people. When we meet, I’ll roll over and let you rub my belly. That’s how you know we are officially friends!

I’m a chill guy who likes to see new places with my people and spend time together. My "off switch” means I’m perfectly happy being home and hanging and do not need to train for a marathon. Walking around the neighborhood is my idea of a good time - all those smells! I also enjoy activities like car rides, pontoon adventures, and quality cuddle sessions.

I’m cuddly, calm, thoughtful, and just a tiny bit clutsy. Hardwood floors and I are currently in negotiations. (Sometimes my feet go one direction while the rest of me goes another!) I’m friendly with new people and dogs. I could live with another low-key pooch or be the only dog in my home. My foster family thinks cats would be ok for me.

Honesty is important in any relationship. You should know that I get distracted by things like fast moving bikes, rollerblades, or very energetic dogs. I may need help managing my big feelings about all that movement. If you’re observant, patient, and understand herding breeds, we’ll do great together.

My dream match? Quiet homebodies with kind hearts, no young kids, and lots of love to give. I don’t need a huge yard or nonstop entertainment. I just want my person. Maybe that’s you.

So… what do you think? Want to do this "life" thing together?

Cayden’s procedure is scheduled for June 16, paid by HOABCR. Recovery is 2 days. After recovery, he will lead a normal life with no restrictions. We would love him to find his forever home before surgery so he can get settled!
