Dear Sporting Clays Friends,
I would like to personally invite you to sign up for the MoSCA Scholarship Prelim event, July 23, at this year’s Missouri State Sporting Clays Championship at Little Fox River Sporting Clays, Memphis, Missouri. I also want to give you a little background and purpose for this event and let you know why you should be a part of the action.

As the name implies, the Scholarship Prelim is designed to raise funds for scholarships for our deserving students. These scholarships are open to applicants ages 17–25 who demonstrate strong academic commitment, good citizenship, and participation in MOSCA/NSCA sporting clays activities. Applicants may attend an accredited university, college, community college, or trade school. The MoSCA board of directors believes this is just one way our sporting clays community can give back and support the next generation. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the fund and the Scholarship Prelim is the main way to build that fund.

Like other events, the Scholarship Prelim is a fully NSCA registered event with all the same opportunity to earn punches, points, & class recognition, etc. But here is where it’s different:
Each entry fee will directly contribute $50.00 to the scholarship fund. There won’t be any trophies awarded in this event or class money awards because we really want to maximize the effort toward building the scholarship fund.

However, there are prizes. Each entrant, regardless of NSCA class or event score, is eligible for the Scholarship Prelim drawing which includes some pretty great items, including:

- Akkar High Noon SxS Shotgun in your choice of gauge (12/20/28/.410). Valued at $1,127.75

- Certificate for ½ day of shooting lessons with Dave Miller of Miller Shooting Sports. How do you value shooting better?

- FatBoy Tripods, ElevateTM 3 Section Inverted Tripod. Valued at $750.00

- 2 cases of Bornaghi T1 Sport 12ga Ammunition. Valued at $200.00

Someone might ask, “what happens if I want to contribute, but I can’t be there on the July 23rd”? Well, we’ve got you covered! You can donate any amount by scanning or clicking the QR code below which will take you to our MoSCA Scholarship campaign site. And for every $50 donation, including multiples of $50, you will also be entered into the prize drawing to be held Saturday night at the State Shoot. Donations for the Scholarship Prelim prize drawing will be accepted through Saturday, July 25 at 3:00pm and you do not need to be present to win.

SCAN THE QR CODE IN THIS POST

Last, but not least, every participant in the Scholarship Prelim event and everyone that donates at least $50.00 will receive a custom pin recognizing you as a MoSCA Scholarship Donor. Wear it with pride on your shooting vest, shirt, or lapel.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support of the MoSCA Scholarship program, the Scholarship Prelim, and the online donation option. We all look forward to seeing you at the MO State Championship and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me or any MoSCA board members. Registration can be found on ScoreChaser.

Sincerely,
Dave Gocken
President, MoSCA

Nominations for NSCA Delegates are now open if you have an interest in representing Missouri as a delegate now is the time to act!

The job of NSCA delegate doesn't take a lot of time, but it is an important role that gives you an opportunity to be a voice supporting Missouri members to the NSCA executive council and to be an ambassador for sporting clays not only in Missouri but anywhere you travel.

Missouri has 3 national delegate positions open for election this year. It's important for Missouri to have a full slate of delegates for the 2027-2028 term. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

You can find more information and the nomination form at https://nsca.nssa-nsca.org/2026/07/01/nsca-national-delegate-nominations-now-open/

Thank you!

The NSCA is America's official governing and sanctioning body for Sporting Clays and works to develop the sport at all levels.

The Missouri Sporting Clays Association gives a scholarship each year to deserving students. We think that's a pretty good way to give back to our shooting community and want to expand that initiative.

At the 2026 Missouri State Championship, July 23-26, at Little Fox River Sporting Clays in Memphis, MO, the first ever MoSCA Scholarship Prelim event will be held. This 100 target NSCA registered event will be held Thursday, July 23, and every entry will contribute $50 to our scholarship fund.

If you haven't registered for the MO State shoot yet, please do - and I'd ask everyone who does register to please support our scholarship efforts by signing up for the Scholarship Prelim event on Jul 23. I promise it will be a fun event and also do a lot of good for young shooters. Hope to see you there!
