I got to spend a little time with these four ladies today, and I just keep thinking about the fact that in a few weeks, they will be standing on this same stage sharing their stories.

Melissa Spires, Monique DeSalvo, Ashley Adams, and Melissa Merritt.

I know pieces of each of their stories, and they aren't easy ones. But I also know the faith these ladies have in God and the hope they carry because of Jesus.

Today we took this picture, but we also stood on that stage together and prayed. And to me, that's the picture that matters most, even though there isn't a picture of it.

On September 10th, they're going to stand up there and share some very real parts of their lives with our community. I am so thankful they said yes.

I hope you'll come out and support them, hear their stories, and just be there.

💛🐘 Today is Christina’s birthday.

For those who know the story of The Yellow Elephant, you know Christina will always be a special part of it. But today is simply about remembering her.

Christina loved hard. If she loved you, you knew it. And her hugs… those were the kind of hugs that made everything feel okay for a minute. I would give just about anything for one more.

We all miss her differently. Some days there are tears. Some days there are stories that still make us laugh. Some days it just hits you out of nowhere. Grief is funny like that.

There are so many people who still carry a piece of her with them, and I think that says a lot about the way she loved people.

Happy Birthday, Christina. ❤️

You are loved. You are missed. And you are remembered.

We all have a story to tell. 💛

The Yellow Elephant is partnering with the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network to bring the RESPECT Institute to Moultrie, August 25–28.

The RESPECT Institute helps people with lived experience learn how to tell their story in a healthy, meaningful way and how that story can be used to educate, encourage, and bring hope to others.
A few spots have opened up, and we would love to fill them!

📍 The HUB at Olive Branch Ministries
📅 August 25–28
⏰ Starts at 9 AM each day, ending times vary but no later than 3 PM

Today The Yellow Elephant got to be part of The Greatest Community Connection with United Way of Colquitt County.

One thing I really love about our community is how many of our nonprofits are homegrown and grassroots. Just people who saw a need in their community and decided to do something about it.
We may be a small town, but there are a whole lot of people here doing some really good work.

This is how a small town comes together. ❤️

Growing Hope Together meets tonight! 💛

Tonight we’re excited to welcome a special guest from the RESPECT Institute who will be sharing her lived experience and her story of hope.

Growing Hope Together is all about creating a place where parents and caregivers can connect with people who understand.
We’re grateful for the partnerships and connections that help make that possible through
Lily in the Valley: A Federation of Families Chapter, Georgia Parent Support Network, Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, and Aspire BHDD/IMPACT.

Parents and caregivers, come as you are. You can share, listen, connect, or simply be around other parents who get it.
