D‑Day Remembrance | June 6, 1944

Today we honor the bravery of the Allied soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy—an operation that changed the course of history and demonstrated extraordinary courage, coordination, and sacrifice.

While the Storm Boat we're rebuilding at the New Hampshire Boat Museum was not part of the D‑Day landings, they share the same legacy of innovation and service. Built by Correct Craft in 1945, these fast, lightweight wooden boats helped soldiers cross rivers under fire in Europe's final months of World War II. They represent the same spirit of teamwork and determination that defined the D‑Day mission.

Our Storm Boat Project continues that legacy—preserving the craftsmanship, engineering, and human stories behind these remarkable vessels.

Today, as we remember those who fought for freedom, we also honor the builders whose hands shaped the boats that carried them toward victory.
