On July 23 our SHP chapter (WW-Monongalia Co) served the 500th child with a bed to call their own.

This milestone belongs to every volunteer, donor, business, church, school, civic organization, and community partner who believed that every child deserves a safe place to sleep.

Every bed built.
Every dollar donated.
Every delivery made.
Every hour volunteered.

Together, you have changed the lives of 500+ children and their families.

To everyone who has supported Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Mon County, thank you. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to serve have made this possible.

While we're celebrating this special day, our mission continues. There are still children waiting for a bed, and with your help, we'll keep building until no child sleeps on the floor.

🌧️🛏️ RAIN DIDN’T STOP THIS BED BUILD!

Despite the rain, we had a great bed build yesterday, August 8! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to help us build 30 more beds for children in our community. Several of these beds will be delivered to local kids this coming week!

A very special thank you to Church of Morgantown and its members, who donated an incredible 60 bedding sets—by far the largest bedding donation we’ve ever received at a bed build! 💙 And thank you UMC for allowing us to use your pavilion at the last minute to stay dry. Thank you so much!!

Thank you to McCracken for arranging breakfast and lunch, and McCracken for organizing the bed build and bedding drive. We’re also grateful to our VP, Sites, who visited CMA early in the planning process to share SHP’s mission and the work we’re doing in the Morgantown community.

Thank you to everyone who made yesterday a success. We hope to see you at a future build!

❤️ 32 more children will have a safe place to sleep—thanks to MVB Bank!

A huge thank you to Bank and their incredible team of volunteers for spending June 13, 2026, building 32 beds for local children in need.

The Mylan Park Pavilion was filled with teamwork, generosity, and plenty of smiles (and a delicious BBQ lunch, too!). Together, we're making sure more children in our community have a bed to call their own.

Thank you for investing in our community and proving what can happen when people come together to serve others.

Because no child should sleep on the floor. ❤️

We are nearing a special milestone of 500 children served by the WV-Monongalia Co chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. That's 500 children sleeping in their own beds and getting a better night's sleep! We will reach that milestone sometime by the end of July. Please continue to follow us and support all the SHP chapters in WV (now 8 strong!) as we try to make a difference for the children in our state

We had a very special bed build on May 16 at the Mon County Center pavilion in Mylan Park: the CHRIS BOLAND MEMORIAL BED BUILD, to remember our dear friend, Chris. Over 100 volunteers attended!! The build was sponsored by four local Rotary Clubs—Morgantown, Morgantown North, Cheat Lake, and Grafton. We came together to honor the memory of the past Morgantown Rotary president, Chris Boland. Chris had a huge impact on our community, exemplifying the Rotarian motto of “Service Above Self.” A chapter record 55 beds were made! Exactly 55 - the same number that Chris wore on his jersey in sports. Fifty-five just so happens to match the number of WV counties that SHP is trying to reach with free beds for children that need decent beds. We owe many thanks to the following: Morgantown Rotary, Morgantown North Rotary, Cheat Lake Rotary, and Grafton Rotary, as well as several Rotarians that gave substantial donations for the build, some of which were used to provide Chris Boland Memorial Build t-shirts for attendees. A special thank you goes to the WVU Innovation Center for providing a Chick-fi-A boxed lunch. We also thank Chick-fil-A for supporting us with a cost reduction on the lunch. Thank you everyone for such a memorable day. The second annual Chris Boland Memorial will take place June 19, 2027 at Mylan Park again. There is a rumor we will build 100 beds on that day!! We have a special request—and it’s all about making bedtime a little more magical for kids 💙🛏️

Right now, we’re in need of “Bed-in-a-Bag” sets for younger children, especially fun, character-themed bedding. Think superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, trucks, favorite cartoons—those little touches that turn a bed into their special place.

For many of the kids we serve, this isn’t just a bed—it’s a safe, cozy space they can call their own. Bright, playful bedding helps make that moment even more meaningful.

If you’re able to donate, new twin-size bed-in-a-bag sets are perfect and ready to go straight to a child in need.
