🌱 Growing food. Building character. Serving others.

That's exactly what the young men at our grantee partner, The Overflow NC Inc, have been doing through their Seeds of Purpose program in Morganton, North Carolina!

Working alongside students from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, these young men helped plant, tend, and harvest a spring garden that produced an incredible 572 pounds of fresh food for families and neighbors in their community! 🥬🍅

But the impact goes far beyond the harvest. Through hands-on experiences like gardening, The Overflow helps young men build responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership skills while discovering their purpose and the difference they can make in the lives of others.

We're proud to support The Overflow and the opportunities they're creating for young men to learn, grow, and serve their community! 💚

Fire up the grills—it’s time for a little friendly competition!

Young men will team up with male mentors for an afternoon of grilling, teamwork, competition, and connection. Each team will work together to prepare their best dish and put their skills to the test for bragging rights and prizes! 🏆

But the Grill-Off is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s another opportunity to bring young men alongside positive male role models, build confidence, practice teamwork, and create meaningful relationships through hands-on experiences.

🌱 From seeds to service—our garden grew more than food this year. With the help of the young men participating in The Overflow and students from North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, our Spring Garden produced an incredible 572 pounds of fresh food that was given back to families and neighbors in our community.

Along the way, young men learned that tending a garden takes patience, responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork. They planted, cared for, harvested, and helped turn their hard work into something that could bless others.

We’re grateful for every student, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this possible. This is what it looks like to Plant Seeds of Purpose—growing food, building character, and serving our community. 🌱

It was a blessing to host members of the Huffman-Cornwell Foundation today. They awarded our very first grant in 2025 which helped launch initial programs. It was exciting to share progress and plans for future growth. We are SO grateful for people who give their time, treasure, and talents to invest into young men on their journey to adulthood.

Camping was a great success! The boys learned how to start a fire with flint, set up a tent, grill steaks, and use a compass. After dinner they made s’mores and watched an outdoor movie. Breakfast was devoured! 🥚🥓
It’s a privilege to encourage and equip these boys with skills while building character and confidence. Thank you to the volunteers and supporters who help make this possible!

It was a great morning fishing at Camp Grimes! The young men learned that the sport is about much more than catching fish. It's an opportunity to develop important life skills and build character!
🎣 Patience: Fish don't work on our schedule.
👂 Listening: Pay attention to instruction and your surroundings.
💪 Self-Control: Stay calm when lines tangle, casts miss, or fish get away.
🎒 Responsibility: Take care of your gear and follow the rules.
🙌 Perseverance: When something doesn't work, try again!
🌿 Stewardship: Respect wildlife, water, and the outdoors.

Today at The Overflow the boys learned how to change vehicle oil and basic vehicle maintenance. Victor Salgado was an excellent instructor, taking his time to explain the small details while ensuring the boys were safe and following the work plan. The afternoon ended with pizza and a good time of discussion. It was a productive day!
