1. Compliment with Confidence 🌟
Encourage your daughter to give genuine compliments to friends, classmates, or even online connections. Whether it’s admiring a friend’s creativity or complimenting a stranger’s style, a heartfelt compliment can brighten anyone’s day!

2. Stand Up Against Negativity 🚫💬
Help your daughter recognize when to stand up against mean behavior, whether online or in person. Encourage her to show kindness by not engaging in gossip and even gently redirecting conversations that turn negative.

3. Celebrate Differences 🌈
Teach her that kindness means appreciating everyone’s uniqueness. Encourage her to reach out to someone who may feel left out or listen to a friend with a different perspective. Embracing diversity in friendships is a beautiful act of kindness.

4. Practice Active Listening 👂💖
Encourage your daughter to be fully present when a friend is sharing, both in person and online. Teach her that listening without interrupting, and showing empathy, is one of the kindest things she can offer.

It’s National Parent as Teacher Day! Here are a few things you can do!

1️⃣ Model Respectful Communication
Show your daughter how to handle disagreements or difficult conversations with respect. Whether it’s a challenging interaction at work or a difference of opinion at home, use it as a teaching moment. Explain how you’re choosing your words, listening actively, and focusing on understanding the other person. This teaches her to handle conflicts with empathy and respect in her own friendships.

2️⃣ Demonstrate Social Media Boundaries
Use this day to talk about the importance of setting boundaries online. Show her how you manage your own digital time, decide what’s private or public, and handle friend requests or negative comments. Lead by example and discuss why these boundaries are essential for mental well-being and maintaining a safe online presence.

3️⃣ Practice Gratitude Together
Take time to share three things each of you is grateful for, focusing on personal growth or meaningful experiences rather than just material things. Practicing gratitude can shift her perspective, boost her resilience, and help her see the good even in challenging times. This habit will help her navigate the ups and downs of teen friendships and life with a positive outlook.

4️⃣ Teach her a new skill like cooking, gardening or how to do laundry. A skill that will help her in the long term.

As you head back to school... you do YOU! Express yourself, dress how you want to dress, try out for that thing YOU want to do...not what your friends are doing (unless YOU want to 😉) YOU will have a much more fulfilling and fun year if you focus on expressing yourself and NOT trying to impress others!
