Distinguished Young Women of Rowan County Scholarship--Leadership--Talent

Founded in 1958 in Mobile, Alabama, Distinguished Young Women is the largest and oldest national scholarship program for
high school girls. It has provided life-changing experiences for more than 200,000 young women and more than $3.3 million
in cash scholarships at the National Finals alone, and more than $92 million at local, state and national programs combined. Distinguished Young Women strives to give every young woman the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a
successful future.

Introducing our 2027 Representatives!

The 2027 Rowan County Distinguished Young Woman is Ella Jenkins.

Fleming County’s 2027 Distinguished Young Woman is Mollie Frazier.

We are SO incredibly proud of all 15 participants who shined on stage tonight! Stay tuned for more photos and a list of all winners in the coming weeks.

The moment these two have been waiting for is quickly approaching! You've seen them helping backstage over the last few years in preparation for their moment to shine! Let's meet our emcees for tomorrow night's show!

🎤 Lucas Holbrook has been working backstage and dreaming of his DYW Debut since his brother Jacob served in the role for the 2023 Rowan County Distinguished Young Woman Program.

🎤 Our second emcee is also no stranger to the program, Barrett Freidhof has been backstage with us the last few years. However, before that, he served as a DYW little brother when his sisters Claire (2020) and Natalie (2024) participated in the program!

We hope you'll join us to be entertained by these young men and all 15 of our participants! 💚

Today we're celebrating our Class of 2026!

These two titleholders will be graduating from Rowan County Senior High School this evening and we are SO PROUD of them! We know they will accomplish their dreams in the years to come and have both been wonderful representatives of the Distinguished Young Woman Program.

Last, but certainly not least, let's meet our last 2 participants in the Class of 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣7️⃣!

Participant #14 is Lidia Messer. She is the daughter of Tommy and Heather Messer. For talent, Lidia will be presenting a monologue. When not busy, you can usually catch Lidia in the kitchen becuase she loves to cook!

Ella Jenkins if Participant #15. Ella is the daughter of Phillip and Melissa Jenkins. She will be bringing the Appalachian tradition of clogging to the stage for talent! Ella has met the last living Alcatraz prisoner. He gave her the advice of “don’t get intro trouble, but if you do, don’t get caught”!

📆 We can't wait to see you in Button Auditorium on Thursday evening at 6p! You can still get your tickets in advance until the day of the show! 🎟

Hadlee Brown is Participant #12. Hadlee is the daughter of Justin and Carey Brown. She will be playing piano for her talent, but may surprise the audience with another instrument on stage! Hadlee has visited 7 countries and hopes to add more to that list!

Participant #13 is Jocelyn Arcos. She is the daughter of Celedonio Arcos and Julia Aquino. Jocelyn will be presenting a traditional Ballet Foklórico originating from Veracruz, Mexico for her talent. She loves to have experiences where she can socialize, have fun, and truly be herself.

Meet the next pair lighting up the stage! ✨

Haddy Stokes is Participant #10. She is the daughter of Micah and Matthew Stokes. For talent, she will be doing a tumbling routine. There's only 1% of people in the world that can do a back flip, and Haddy is in that 1%!

Participant #11 is Mya Hall. Mya is the daughter of Donnie and Randa Hall. She will be doing a monologue and archery for talent. Mya has always been creative and an innovator, she was an entrepreneur at age 12!

Happy Friday! 🥳🥳 Let's meet two more of our participants!

Participant #8 is Jesica Trejo Urbano. She is the daughter of Jacobo Trejo Flores and Sofia Urbano. Jesica will be presenting a monologue for her talent. Jesica loves to be tan and at the beach because she was born in South Carolina!

Mollie Frazier is representing Fleming County as Participant #9. Mollie is the daughter of Vanessa Frazier and Jeff Frazier. For talent, she will be doing a vocal performance. Mollie is adventurous and enjoys whitewater kayaking!

Last year, thanks to our amazing communities, we were able to award over $18,000 in cash scholarships to our participants! This put us in the top 5️⃣ programs in the state! 💚
