Good morning Crystal Coast Water Quality Advocates. The Crystal Coast Waterkeeper is now the White Oak Waterkeeper. The White Oak Waterkeeper provides services to the White Oak River Basin, which includes the Crystal Coast, New, White Oak, Newport, and North Rivers, as well as the surrounding waters of Carteret and Onslow Counties. The White Oak Waterkeeper (WOW) is part of Coastal Carolina Riverwatch.

We will be consolidating pages at the end of the month and this page will be deleted.

Various members of OBFM vendor family will be taking orders on Thursday and Friday of each week for pickup at the courthouse grounds on Saturday mornings. This week's vendor is Shenk Family Farm from Newport, NC. Visit www.oldebeaufortfarmersmarket.org for more details.

During the season of April-November OBFM serves our community with fresh, locally grown foods and handmade products every Saturday. This a great way to get to know our farmers and ensure transparency about where our food comes from.

Gibbs Creek is an estuarine tributary of the North River. A new proposed development, Shackleford Landing, is requesting major rezoning permits for properties surrounding Gibbs Creek. We believe this will threaten the environmental, economic, and cultural benefits of our estuary.

CCRW has partnered with Croatan Group - NC Sierra Club, Carteret County Wildlife Club of North Carolina, and Carteret Food and Health Council to call for the protection of Gibbs Creek.
