Film was only the third most common type of work reported in our 2026 survey.

70% work in commercial and advertising production, 68% in social media, and the average respondent works across 3.7 different types of media production.

A North Dakota native, Spencer is the owner of Clutch Media LLC, where he helps businesses and nonprofit organizations tell their stories through creative digital content. With more than a decade of professional experience spanning television, radio, live entertainment, and social media, he brings a wide range of creative and marketing expertise to every project.

Based in Valley City with his wife, Spencer is passionate about supporting local organizations and growing North Dakota's creative community. Whether he's producing media, developing marketing strategies, or performing stand-up comedy, he brings creativity, energy, and a storyteller's mindset to his work.

The 2026 Film North Dakota Industry Survey received 116 responses from professionals across the state, with participants representing communities from Crosby to Fargo, Minot to Grand Forks, and many places in between.

We also heard from former North Dakotans now working across the country, including California, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, South Dakota, and Minnesota.
