PASHI Moorestown is working with Gail Hoffman, Founder of the Uganda Mission Project, to make 50 birthing bags for their January 26 mission to Uganda! Everything needs to be done before the winter holidays.

Thank you to Janet Cohen for designing a slightly larger birthing bag for us! The birthing bags will contain reusable menstrual pads, a pouch, hygiene products, and a clinical bag containing supplies like sterile gloves, clamps, and scissors to help women who are expected to bring their own supplies to birthing clinics.

There are two ways to help us:
*If you sew, birthing bag kits will be available at the meeting house in mid-October. They can be sewn at home or at the meeting house.

*Donate funds (via GiveButter, check to Moorestown Monthly Meeting or PASHI, or cash). Please write “Birthing Kits” in the note. You could also order the birthing kit yourself ($37 shipped), send a private message for the address to ship it to.

PASHI 2 Moorestown will begin hosting evening sewing this week! We’ll be meeting from 10-3pm as usual and then from 6:30-8pm.

Everyone is welcome to join! No sewing experience required!

Some of the non-sewing tasks available are:
*Trimming pads
*Sorting and organizing supplies
*Turning the wings right side out
*Pressing with an iron
*Cutting fabric
*Applying snaps to wings

It’s a global initiative headquartered right in Philly!

At the Ujima Friends Peace Center in North Philadelphia, a group of retired Black women gather each week to make reusable menstrual pads for girls and women around the world.

Through the Pan-African Sisterhood Health Initiative, they’re helping provide dignity, health, and opportunity, one stitch at a time.

PASHI 2 Moorestown has had a lot of upheaval lately. We had to take most of August off due to work on the Meeting House, but we’re back as of September 2nd!

Now that the work on our room is complete, we can hang the beautiful menstrual pad instructional wall hanging Pan African Sisterhood Health Initiative. PASHI gifted us for our anniversary!

PASHI Moorestown has produced over 2000 reusable menstrual pads and over 2000 carry pouches!

We’ve also used our scrap zorb and fabric to make 6 dog beds for the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
