Freedom is not free.

We live in a time where it seems many Americans are quick to demand rights, but slow to remember the price paid for them. White crosses rise in the fields of the national cemeteries, reminding us freedom is secured by the blood of others.

Jesus Christ gave His life to set us free from sin and death enabling us to become citizens of Heaven. American military members gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this nation. I am thankful for both and do not take them for granted. I pray I steward this freedom faithfully.

May we pause today with humility and gratitude. May we confess, repent and reject the spirit of entitlement and forgetfulness that can rise within us.

Happy Birthday to our house dad at Courage Home!!

Throughout the years, house dads have made profound impacts on our residents. Simple things like opening a car door, leading dinner time devotionals, and playing pickleball in the backyard establish felt safety for every resident. In charge of being the stronghold for Christ in the home, the role of house dad is never taken lightly.

Facts about Micah:

👨‍⚕️He is currently in clinical rotations for PT school (will graduate this year, yay Micah!)
🎸He leads worship and will often sing or play guitar with our residents during downtime
👟He's an avid runner and loves 5k races
🍳He's an excellent cook!!

Community members, we kindly ask for your help.

Perseverance Place, our second home for young women 19-23 will officially be underway with the graduation of one of our Courage Home girls next month. While the second home is not yet built, we are renting a home in Baldwin County where she will be accompanied with two mentor parents as she begins her next phase of life as a highschool graduate entering community college.

We have the house, but we need YOUR help to make it a home.

We’re asking local businesses, churches, families, and community members to help furnish and decorate the home for her, and for the young women searching for safety, stability, and hope to come.

If you have any donations, please feel free to message us directly at [email protected] so we can arrange pickup or delivery.

Your kindness will help transform this house into a loving home for young women who have chosen to pursue a healthier, brighter future.✨

Sometimes we forget that grace is a gift, not a paycheck. ✨

We live trying to earn love, approval, and worth, but God already gave us what we could never earn on our own.

‘For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.’ 🤍

No amount of mistakes could disqualify us from His love. That’s the beauty of His grace, He meets us exactly where we are, but never leaves us there.

Today, rest in this truth. You are loved by God not because of what you did, but because of who He is. 🙏

A new chapter is beginning…🤍

Next month, one of our Courage Home girls will graduate high school and become the very first resident of Perseverance Place — our second home for young women ages 19–23 transitioning into adulthood, college, work, and independent living.

While the permanent home is still being built, we are renting a home in Baldwin County where she will live alongside mentor parents who will help guide and support her through this next season of life. 🏡

Now we need YOUR help turning this house into a home.

We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist filled with essentials like bedding, kitchen supplies, furniture, décor, hygiene items, and everyday comforts that remind these girls: you matter, you are safe, and you can do this.

Join us in welcoming our new social worker, Lissi!!

As the Social Worker, Lissi brings specialized training and hands-on experience in trauma-informed care for adolescents. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Alabama.

Her professional background includes work in inner-city schools and both short-term and residential treatment settings, supporting youth facing trauma, abuse, and complex family dynamics. Lissi utilizes evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy, to help young women develop emotional awareness, resilience, and healthy communication skills.

At Courage Home, Lissi plays a critical role in strengthening outcomes for girls and families by integrating therapeutic care with relational mentorship, equipping each young woman with the tools needed to move toward stability, independence, and long-term success.

Lissi has been married for 21 years and is the mother of three children. Her personal experience as a wife and mother further informs her commitment to strengthening families and walking alongside them with empathy, wisdom, and care.

Happy Birthday to our Creative and Program Strategy Director Kimberly Charest!! She is our BeLOVED Gen Z that keeps us young and “in tune” with the pulse of the younger generation.

She is a strategic partner that has helped develop our G.L.E.A.N. program and is instrumental in helping to develop Perseverance Place 1.0
