Thanks, everyone! Steve Tendo was one of the very first people assisted by CVRAN, and it's great that the energy is still there!

Community members, religious leaders, and state representatives rallied outside the ICE field office in St. Albans to support Steven Tendo, a Ugandan asylum seeker, during his immigration check-in hearing.

CVRAN volunteers worked hard as part of a team to pass Vermont’s Fair and Impartial Policing Policy. Naturally we are saddened to read stories such as these.

“Vermont’s existing framework for keeping local police out of the deportation business clearly needs to be stronger, and there must be accountability when local officials violate that policy,” ACLU told VTDigger. “Vermont should not be complicit in ICE and Border Patrol abuse.”

Quarterly Meeting this month!

There is so much to enjoy on a Vermont summer day and we know a meeting might not be high on your list when a cool pond is beckoning. Still, we hope you will join CVRAN at our summer meeting.

CVRAN is part of an exciting new project called Many Voices, One Vermont! Co-producing with Vermont Asylum Assistance Project and USCRI Vermont, we will be bringing you a variety of content about and by New Vermonters, each Sunday at 1:00 PM on 99.3 FM. MVOV is a 30-minute program celebrating the voices, stories, experiences, cultures, and contributions that make our community strong.

Last month's episode featured a discussion with VAAP's Jill Martin Diaz about immigration need-to-know's, interviews with runners in the Burlington City Marathon who raised money for USCRI-VT, and an introduction to CVRAN with our own Ali Zenie and Isabelle Tibi.

Each monthly episode delivers vital community updates and collaborative discussions with our partners. The platform centers the lived experiences, diverse backgrounds, and voices of the refugees, asylum seekers, and newcomers who call Vermont home.

Tune in the second Sunday in July for a new episode, or listen online and read more about it at the link below:
