The Lake Country Players

The Lake Country Players Community Theater for over 40 years! Hi, and welcome to the world of Schuyler County performing theater arts, The Lake Country Players.

LCP, as we are commonly known, exhibits a wide and varied thirty-plus year history. Originally formed as the Burdett Players, just up the east side of beautiful Seneca Lake in the early 1970s; by the end of that decade the group saw a need to centralize its operations and moved to Watkins Glen. Since that time, LCP has grown to become a regional player in theater and performing arts

🎭 Congratulations to the incredible cast and crew of A Hatful of Rain!

This was a show that needed to be seen.

Lake Country Players would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mark Sardo for bringing the world of straight plays back to LCP with such a powerful and important production.

Through outstanding performances, thoughtful direction, and meaningful storytelling, this show reminded us that we never truly know what battles someone else may be facing.

Over the weekend, we were honored to partner with local organizations that helped educate our audiences about addiction and recovery. Some of our members even received training on the use of Narcan, furthering the impact of this production beyond the stage.

A Hatful of Rain was gripping, moving, emotional, and thought-provoking. It sparked conversations that matter and highlighted the realities faced by so many individuals and families.

If you haven't had the chance to experience this remarkable production, there is still one final opportunity. Join us tomorrow at 2:00 PM for our closing performance.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this show and helped bring its important message to our community. ❤️

🎸🎤 Calling all young men between the ages of 16-19 who love theatre and rock & roll! 🎤🎸

Our production of Rock of Ages is looking for a few more guys to round out our cast — especially for the iconic role of Stacee Jaxx!

Stacee Jaxx is the ultimate rock star: confident, charismatic, wild, and larger than life. A legendary frontman with a magnetic stage presence, he’s the embodiment of 1980s rock-and-roll excess and energy.

If you’ve got the voice, the swagger, and the love for performing, we want to hear from you! I mean, you know you want to come sing some Bon Jovi on stage!

Interested? DM this page for more information about our OPEN CALL AUDITION happening this Wednesday, 5/20! 🤘🔥 (we will work with your schedule if Wednesday isn’t available for you)

Come join the party and help us bring the Sunset Strip to life!

🎸✨ OFFICIAL SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT ✨🎸

After much discussion, stress, and consideration, we are SO excited to officially announce our young adult production for this summer season…

🔥 ROCK OF AGES: TEEN EDITION 🔥

After hearing radio silence from MTI for weeks regarding Mamma Mia!, our directors Alex and Kelsey revisited the backup show options — but nothing quite captured the energy and excitement they were looking for. They wanted a show that felt like Mamma Mia! with upbeat music, fun characters, huge dance numbers, and tons of opportunities for performers to shine.

And that’s when Rock of Ages: Teen Edition entered the chat! 🤘🎶

Packed with iconic 80s hits you all know and love, high-energy performances, hilarious characters, AMAZING costumes, and incredible dance numbers, this show is going to be an absolute blast. There are so many opportunities for performers to shine, and we cannot WAIT to head back to the 80s with all of you!

📣 IMPORTANT NEXT STEPS

• Alex and Kelsey will be reaching out via email to invite auditionees back for callbacks taking place next week.

• Additional information will be shared with all audition attendees via email, followed by the official cast list after callbacks.

Please keep an eye on your inbox over the next day or two! 💌

We are beyond excited for this journey and can’t wait to rock with you all! 🎤⚡🎸

Start marking your calendars! A Hatful of Rain, LCPs first straight play in quite some time is coming shortly!

A Hatful of Rain tells the powerful story of American war hero Johnny Pope as he faces new battles on the home front. Michael V. Gazzo’s play premiered on Broadway in 1955, and was adapted into a popular film starring Don Murray and Eva Marie Saint in 1968.

Considered shocking and groundbreaking at the time in its unflinching portrayal of issues such as veteran health care scandals and opioid abuse.

The play follows a whirlwind two days in the life of Johnny Pope, his pregnant wife Celia, his brother Polo, and their estranged father. During that time, family secrets are laid bare, relationships are tested, and the Popes’ picture-perfect image is shattered forever.

A review of the original Broadway production, written by Brooks Atkinson for the New York Times, calls A Hatful of Rain “a play of substance,” and describes the scenes as ranging from “simple and moving” to “almost unbearably powerful.”

We want to keep everyone in the loop regarding this week’s auditions.

Due to the current lack of updates surrounding our appeal for Mamma Mia! and pending notification for one of our alternate show options, we will be postponing callbacks until we have more information.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you for showing up, auditioning, and sticking with us through this uncertain time. Your patience, flexibility, and trust mean more to us than we can fully express.

Please know that we are actively working behind the scenes and will update you as soon as we have more information.

Callback emails will be sent out as soon as decisions are finalized.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us—we truly appreciate you all.💙
