🏨 **IS A LA QUINTA HOTEL NOW COMING TO MONTICELLO**

Back in September 2024, we reported on plans for the proposed Broadway Event Plaza development near I-94 and East Broadway Street in Monticello.

The project was originally planned to include:

🏨 **Hotel:** A 76-room Grand Stay Hotel, now changed to **La Quinta by Wyndham**, with a franchise agreement signed by the developer.

🎉 **Event Center:** A 15,000-square-foot event and conference center. The developer has identified a potential operator with years of event and hospitality experience.

🍝 **Restaurant:** Originally proposed as Vita Bella Italian Restaurant, the restaurant space now has a letter of intent from an experienced restaurant owner/operator in Maple Grove. The restaurant's name and concept have not yet been announced.

🚗 **Classic Car Museum:** The original proposal also included a classic car museum.

The development received City Council approvals in November 2024. Since then, the project has continued working through the development process.

Now, the developer is seeking an extension along with updates to the original hotel and restaurant plans at the October 12th, 2026 City Council Meeting. Link to the October 12th meeting agenda: https://www.monticellomn.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10122026-1377?html=true

📍 The proposed development is located at **6321 East Broadway Street**, near I-94 in Monticello. The project is intended to bring additional lodging, event space, dining and other amenities to the area.

**What will the proposed changes mean for the project?** We'll be watching for more details as the plans move forward.

🏓 THE PICKLEBALL COURTS ARE OFFICIALLY OPEN! 🎉

Recently, we posted about the new pickleball courts coming to Bertram Chain of Lakes Park in Monticello. Well, the wait is over! The City posted yesterday that the courts are officially open! 🙌

We took a stroll down to the park to check them out, and it didn’t take long to see that people are already enjoying them! Several of the 8 brand-new pickleball courts were already well in use by folks taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather. 🍂☀️🏓

While we were there, we decided to take a stroll through the park and show you just how much Bertram Chain of Lakes Park has to offer.

🌳 WHAT CAN YOU FIND AT BERTRAM PARK?

🏓 8 Pickleball Courts – A brand-new place to enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports around.

🏕️ Camping – Spend the night and enjoy the beauty of the park and lakes.

🏖️ Swimming Beaches – Cool off during the summer and enjoy the beautiful shoreline.

💦 Water Activities – Enjoy the lakes and water during the warmer months.

🎣 Fishing – Bring your fishing gear and spend some time enjoying the lakes.

🚶 Walking & Hiking Trails – Explore the park on foot and enjoy the scenery, wildlife and natural surroundings.

🛝 Playground Areas – A great place for kids to burn off some energy while families enjoy the park.

🧺 Picnic Areas – Pack a lunch, have a picnic and spend the day outdoors.

Bertram Chain of Lakes Park is one of those places where you can easily spend a few hours—or an entire day—enjoying the outdoors.

So, if you haven’t been to Bertram Park lately, now is a great time to check it out!

🚧 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – WRIGHT COUNTY ROAD 39 🚧

Wright County Road 39 will be temporarily closed beginning the week of October 12 between Hall Avenue NE and Harding Avenue NE to address drainage issues.

📅 Expected closure: October 12–16, 2026
📍 Location: Wright County Road 39 between Hall Avenue NE and Harding Avenue NE

The closure is expected to end on October 16, but the timeline is subject to change depending on project conditions.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use an alternate route during the closure. Please allow extra time for travel.
