Eastwood Schools GEARS, Inc. Robotics Team GEARS, Inc. Robotics represents Eastwood Schools in the BEST Robotics and MATE ROV competitions. The GEARS, Inc. Our end goal is to glorify God in all we do.

(General Engineering And Robotics Specialists) robotics team represents Eastwood Presbyterian Church School and several River Region homeschool groups in the BEST Robotics and MATE ROV competitions. As a team, our desire is to encourage STEM education while also teaching life lessons such as teamwork, leadership, and problem solving. As our team verse, Colossians 3:23, says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."

2025 MATE World Championship: ✅✅🎉

What a competition season!! Our team is so grateful to have had the opportunity to compete in the World Championship for a second year in a row. We are so proud of all our team members for the hard work, growth, and resilience they have shown throughout this season. While we didn't come away with any awards, the experience and community make it all worth it! Congratulations to all participating teams, and a special shout-out to our fellow regional competitors the Trojan Triremes! 🎉🎉

2025 MATE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP⬇️

GEARS has had a busy couple days! Here's what we've been up to:

Wed- Check-in and Safety Inspection. GEARS passed safety first try! 🎉
Thurs- Opening ceremonies and our first demo day! GEARS had a solid opening demo.
Fri: Second demo and Engineering Presentation. The team nailed the presentation, and had our most successful demo with a total of 169 points!
Sat: Bonus Mission and Awards Ceremony. Due to the weather, the bonus mission was unfortunately cancelled. However, teams had the opportunity to compete in trivia! GEARS came in second place in our trivia session. 🎉

GEARS has had such an incredible experience!

Today was all about competition prep! Our team was busy with competition check-in, safety inspections, and ROV maintenance. Safety inspection was passed first try! 🎉

Our Story

The GEARS, Inc. (General Engineering and Robotics Specialists) robotics team represents Eastwood/Cornerstone Schools in the BEST Robotics Competition at Montgomery BEST. The team is currently preparing for their tenth year in competition. During the intense six-week competition the team produced and marketed a robot. The team's tasks include not only designing a robot through following the engineering process but also creating a web site, t-shirts, table display, PowerPoint presentation and more.
