🇺🇸 Veterans: Continue Serving Your Community — Become a Poll Worker! 🇺🇸

As veterans, we took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. While our military service may have ended, our commitment to serving our communities can continue in many meaningful ways.

One opportunity that I personally recommend is serving as a Poll Worker.

I have proudly served as a poll worker since 2019, and it has been one of the most rewarding ways to stay involved in protecting the integrity of our elections and helping fellow citizens exercise their right to vote.

Recently, Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen highlighted the importance of veterans serving at the polls through the Heroes at the Polls program. Veterans bring integrity, patriotism, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic—qualities that make us uniquely qualified to assist on Election Day.

🗳️ Why Consider Becoming a Poll Worker?

✅ Continue serving your community.
✅ Help ensure safe, secure, and fair elections.
✅ Support your fellow citizens as they exercise their constitutional right to vote.
✅ Meet and work alongside dedicated members of your local community.
✅ Receive training and compensation for your service.

To serve as a poll worker in Alabama, you must:

✅ Be a registered voter in the county where you wish to serve.
✅ Complete the required training provided by your county.
✅ Be appointed by your county's election officials.

🇺🇸 Members of the River Region Veterans Coalition (RRVC) were honored to attend the 2026 Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Central Alabama Chapter 607 at the Vietnam War Memorial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Representing RRVC were:
• Keith Rudolph, President
• Kent Davis, Vice President
• Lisa Davis
• Karan Rudolph, Aide-de-Camp
• Nancy Burtron, Nonprofit Development Strategies

RRVC Vice President Kent Davis also had the distinct honor of serving as the ceremony’s keynote speaker, delivering heartfelt remarks honoring the sacrifices made by America’s fallen heroes and reminding all in attendance of the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The ceremony included the Posting of the Colors, the Building of the Battle Cross, the Reading of the Names of local Vietnam War fallen heroes, the Missing Man Table Ceremony, the 13 Folds of Honor Flag Ceremony, and the playing of Taps. Each part of the program served as a powerful tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

RRVC was proud to stand alongside fellow Veterans, military families, community leaders, and patriotic organizations in remembrance of our fallen Brothers-and-Sisters-in-Arms. We extend our sincere appreciation to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 607, their Honor Guard, Color Guard, and all volunteers who made this meaningful ceremony possible.

As Memorial Day reminds us each year, freedom is never free. Today, and every day, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
