🇺🇸 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE! 🇺🇸

We are proud to help spread the word about a great volunteer opportunity supporting our military families at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Maxwell AFB is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Crossing Guard Program. Volunteers help ensure that children of our military families arrive at and leave school safely each day.

Sometimes making a difference doesn't require hours of your time, it simply requires being there when you're needed.

Who can volunteer?
🇺🇸 Active Duty Service Members
🇺🇸 Guard & Reserve Members
🇺🇸 Veterans
🇺🇸 DoD Civilians
🇺🇸 Authorized Dependents
🇺🇸 Others approved through the program

The program offers morning and/or afternoon shifts, flexible scheduling, training, and no previous experience is required.

🇺🇸 RRVC PROUDLY RECOGNIZES GOODWYN MIDDLE SCHOOL 🇺🇸

Today, the River Region Veterans Coalition (RRVC) was honored to take part in the National Constitution Day Program at Goodwyn Middle School in Montgomery, Alabama.

The program brought together students, educators, veterans, families, and community leaders to recognize the importance of our Constitution, the responsibilities that come with citizenship, and the men and women who have served our nation.

During today's celebration, the River Region Veterans Coalition proudly presented Goodwyn Middle School with a Certificate of Appreciation, recognizing the school in connection with its outstanding Constitution Day Program.

RRVC also presented the school with copies of our “Color with Capt. RRiViC” coloring book to distribute to students as a fun educational resource. 🇺🇸🖍️

Goodwyn Middle School put together a wonderful program that included the Posting of the Colors, National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, a history of Constitution Day, reading of the Preamble to the United States Constitution, discussion of constitutional rights and responsibilities, recognition of veterans by branch of service, and patriotic music. Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham served as the guest speaker.

What made the day especially meaningful was seeing so many different parts of our community gathered in one place — students learning, educators teaching, veterans sharing their presence and experiences, and community leaders showing their support.

RRVC was honored to share this occasion with Montgomery City Councilwoman Julie T. Beard, District 2; Montgomery County Commissioner Justin M. Castanza, District 3; and Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham.

The River Region Veterans Coalition exists to SUPPORT • CONNECT • PROMOTE, and today was a wonderful example of what CONNECT can mean.

Connecting veterans with our schools.

Connecting generations.

Connecting our community through a shared appreciation for service, citizenship, and the freedoms we enjoy.

When veterans and young people have opportunities to come together, we help preserve the stories and experiences of those who served while giving the next generation a greater understanding of the sacrifices that helped make their freedoms possible.

Our veterans have a story to tell. Our young people deserve the opportunity to hear it.

RRVC extends our sincere appreciation to the students, teachers, faculty, administration, staff, and families of Goodwyn Middle School for welcoming the veteran community and for putting together such a meaningful Constitution Day program.

Thank you, Goodwyn Middle School, for allowing the River Region Veterans Coalition to be a part of this special day.

🇺🇸 **CONSTITUTION DAY — SEPTEMBER 17** 🇺🇸

Today, the **Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Alabama** joins Americans across our nation in recognizing **Constitution Day and Citizenship Day**.

On September 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia, establishing the framework of government that continues to guide our nation.

For America’s veterans, the Constitution holds a special significance. When we raised our right hands and took the oath to serve, we pledged to **support and defend the Constitution of the United States**.

That oath represents a commitment greater than any individual — a commitment to our nation, its Constitution, and the freedoms and principles generations of Americans have served to protect.

Today, we encourage all Alabamians to reflect on the Constitution, learn more about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and remember those who have defended our nation throughout its history.

The University of Alabama Culverhouse School of Accountancy’s LIFT Program is offering FREE one-on-one computer, iPhone, and iPad tutoring this fall.

🎓 UA students provide individual tutoring, so whether you need help learning the basics or have specific questions about your computer, iPhone, or iPad, this is a great opportunity to get some hands-on assistance.

📍 Classes are being offered in several locations:

Birmingham VA Clinic (Annex) — Sept. 18, Oct. 2, Oct. 16 & Nov. 6
Birmingham East VA Clinic (Irondale) — Sept. 18 & Oct. 9
Cullman VFW — Sept. 25 & Oct. 23
Vet Center – Hoover — Sept. 25, Oct. 9, Oct. 23 & Nov. 13
