MCB Member Spotlight: Lucie Fralicks!
Meet Lucie Fralicks, one of the talented flute and piccolo players who helps bring the Montgomery Community Band to life!
Lucie’s love of the flute began in 3rd grade when she heard a flute accompaniment during children’s choir at church. She went home and told her mom, “That’s what I want to do!” After two years of nagging, she finally got her chance when band started in 5th grade—and she’s been playing ever since! Lucie went on to major in Music in college and has played in churches and professional flute choirs in several states. She still sings in choir today, too!
After moving to the greater Houston area, Lucie found MCB through Facebook while looking for a flute choir or other opportunity to play. She keeps coming back for the community and the chance to make music as part of a larger ensemble.
Her favorite MCB moment so far was last spring’s patriotic concert, when she finally roped her non-musical, sports-loving husband into being the MC. And she plans to rope him in again!
In honor of Under the Bright Lights, Lucie’s favorite musical song is “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin. Having grown up outside NYC with a musical-loving aunt, she had plenty of opportunities to see musicals and admits it’s hard to pick just one!
Lucie wants our community to know what a wonderful and talented group of people make up MCB. We play for the love of music, welcome all ages, and, in Lucie’s words, “For a ‘rag tag’ bunch, we’re pretty darn good!”
We’re so glad Lucie found her way to MCB—and brought her love of music and community with her!
