Mid-South RC&D Our region includes Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery counties. And we’re here to help our region continue to lead.

The Mission of Mid-South RC&D is to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of our communities by enhancing our human and natural resources through education and involvement in response to the needs in our Region. The purpose of our volunteer organization is to provide the local leadership required for developing and carrying out a plan for conservation, improvement and development of

our region. We promote wise use of natural and human resources thereby improving economic opportunities and the general well being of all the people in the Mid-South Resource Conservation and Development Council area. When neighbors help neighbors we believe the whole world will be a better place. Mid-South is a community-driven collaboration of many partners; the communication and hard work between all these pieces make it work. The local, state and national RC&D network is a powerful way to help people change communities for the better. Get involved with your local RC&D Council and become a game changer! We’re part of the Alabama Association of RC&D Councils as one of the nine councils found in Alabama.

The Bullock County Grant Writing Workshop hit the mark with explaining just how user-friendly the FY27 Mid-South RC&D grant application is! We met plenty of new faces and answered a lot of good questions. Now, we can’t wait to see what they have planned for their communities.

Mid-South RC&D had the joy of hosting the 2026 RC&D Staff Retreat in Auburn, Alabama!

These retreats provide precious time for everyone to catch up and work together to keep the Alabama RC&D program strong. National Association of RC&D Councils and The Cosby Company led sessions about how every council can stay mission-focused, inclusive, and relevant in this ever-changing world.

🤖Redland Middle School's Robotics team used a Mid-South RC&D grant to purchase updated equipment, competition-grade components, and learning resources that allowed students to design, build, and program robots at a much higher level. This project eliminated the need for extensive fundraising and kept membership fees down for students. Watch the video to see the positive impact!

We're proud to be a part of a project that works towards establishing a swift water rescue training program in Montgomery, Alabama! With a Mid-South RC&D grant, the Montgomery Whitewater Foundation acquired the necessary certifications and supplies needed to train first responders on how to rescue people in fast-moving water environments.

🌞As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, locals in Lowndes County can enjoy the renewed Calhoun Community Park! The Calhoun Community Organization used Mid-South RC&D grants to complete Phase One and Two of the park's renovation, improving its usability, comfort, and appeal.

Thank you Senator Robert Stewart and Representative Kelvin J. Lawrence for supporting RC&D and making these projects possible!
