For all those who follow the Mat Ministry, volunteers, donors, supporters, all throughout these years, I have decided to pass the baton to the Mental Health of America Organization. They have an awesome reputation, strong supporters backing their efforts, and the serving hearts needed to carry this ministry forward. Thank you, Marcia Sledge, Program Director, for your interest in helping others and agreeing to be the new leader. Volunteers who have worked with me throughout the past 9 1/2 years can volunteer with them. God sent this organization to us to continue to serve Him. If you want to volunteer, do so yourself, through your company, or save your bags and encourage them. It is just a change in location. I hope you will support them as enthusiastically as you have supported me. Hugs, Karla

Tuesday, August 4, and Thursday, August 6, were training days for these Faulkner University Occupational students. One group came the first of the week, and the other group came today. By working together with all the challenges we faced with
A/C problems and some mat difficulties, they completed 4 mats to distribute to the homeless in our community. Ya'll were awesome! Nicki Raines, please bring these lovely young people back soon.

We had a very good day today. Katrina sent us another Natha picture where she is at the end of finishing another mat. Whoo whoo!! Our crazy, loving bag ladies, Grace and Sabrina, are cleaning up after the workshop. We welcome our new guy, Miles, who had to leave before we got his picture. He took one, and we hope he will share it. Raelean got out before I got her picture. Delphia and her grandson completed another coat of many colors in honor of her mom. I am trying to figure out how to bring my newest design all the way to the bottom of the mat. Looks like I may have to start over to get the abstract I was hoping for. Any suggestions? Hugs, Karla

Always a good day at the mat workshop.Welcome, Rocky and John Johnson. She is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, and he is the Principal at Montgomery Catholic School. Thank you so much for choosing to volunteer your time with us. Don't forget to save the date for Saturday, July 25th, and join us at Eastern Hills Baptist Church for a mat ministry serve day from 9-12. Location: 3604 Pleasant Ridge Road, Montgomery, AL. We are behind on processing bags and need all the help we can muster to smooth, cut, and loop them. I am really excited to announce that Grace, Terri, and I will be going to Manchester, Tenn., on July 27th -July 30th to train Manchester Methodist Church to start their very own mat ministry. We will be gone four days so the mat workshop will be closed that week. Be sure to keep us in prayer for travel mercies. Hugs, Karla

Elder & Sister Anderson with JCLDS borrowed one of our weaving frames for a Youth Group event. Kathy Morrow with Perry Hill Methodist Church loaned looms too, and did they ever do "awesome" by taking off 3 full mats. BRAVO!! Received a message from Elder Anderson and our sweet Airman Bethany, sending these pictures, and saying that they had a great time. God is certainly smiling down on you girls. Hugs, Ms Karla

It has been a hectic couple of weeks. I apologize for getting behind on posting the fun-filled times and showcasing the wonderful volunteers who give so freely of their time. There has been so much going on that today, you all will get fun pictures but not much dialogue. Yeah, can't get anything past y'all. My memory is not as good as it used to be, and some names may not come out right. Forgive and enjoy the pictures. Hugs, Karla

We are so blessed to have the volunteers who come to us in groups. Our regular volunteers cannot do it all, and this added help keeps us producing for those in need. Thanks to Raelean, Elizabeth, Sabrina, and Marquerite for keeping the processes moving in one room. Thanks to Barbara and Helen for helping with training our group from Kelly Williams Reality in the weaving room. They were so enthusiastic and excited. Susan and her team divided into two's and took on four looms. Each took off their mat. Hooray!! Congratulations to the group. Barbara took five mats to DeWayne Rembert, Minister of Evangelism at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He is also the founder of the Flatline Church in Chism. He requested 5 more mats. We, as a group, plan to take them and will attend his praise and worship on Sunday. Remember us if you have some free time and would like to do something rewarding to show Jesus and HIS love to others. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday each week from 10-12. You would be so welcome! Hugs, Ms Karla lives matter, women, others

We had a very good day today. Helen re-warped a frame, getting it ready for our volunteer guest on the 26th. I almost finished the cross mat. and the rest of the crew worked on the processes. We welcomed Delphia back, and she took the tote frame to begin a new tote. Our work is for the Lord and HIS glory. We would love for you to join us on any Tuesday or Thursday from 10-12. You would be so welcomed. lives matter Women # Methodist women

What a wonderful day the Lord hath made! The mat ministry rejoices today as we meet with our regular crew, welcome a frequent follower and supporter group, and introduce 5 new volunteers. Awesome, God is so good to us. Grace always arrives early and gets us organized. Margurite finished another tote, Sabrina, and Raelean worked on the process toward weaving. The Dixie Lions Club members showed up and showed out, helping with the process and weaving a mat. President, Doug Cooper, VP Brenda Carr, VP Susan Kynard-Deavers, VDG Jessica Marie Kyser, and Lion Mary Rogers. Ya'll are just AWESOME! We welcomed Heather, Marley, and her brother Gavin, who learned some of the process of getting ready to weave a mat. They were given a tour and are ready to weave when they can return. The Anderson completed a mat and set up for a new one to begin. Sister Anderson introduced us to her sister, Barbara, and we were delighted to meet her. Barbara Rogers and Helen completed the Zebra mat, bringing our total to 741 mats completed. I trained those interested in learning to weave. It is fun, it helps the environment, it gives those without housing a mat to sleep on, and we do this to serve our Lord through helping others. If you have some time to volunteer, come have some fun with us. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-12 at Dalraida Global Methodist Church.
