Remembering Smokin’ Joe Frazier! Congratulations to Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Montco Class of 2011, Joe Frazier, Marc Bailey, Joe Conwell, Mary Ann Harris, Rich Johnson, Elaine Pomian Knobloch, Ron Livers, Joe McIlvaine, Fran Crippen, Paul McKernan and Robert "Bob" Levy on their 12th Anniversary of Induction.

Thank you Smokin' Joe, incredible; the first to arrive, last to leave, spreading kindness, stories, signing everything, taking pictures with all! Part of the story is here in Tony Leodora's Delco Daily Times Article - Remembering Joe's last public appearance.

I rememberJoe Frazier. I remember the pumping, piston-like fists, the non-stop motion, the bobbing head that seemed like an inviting target until an opponent threw a punch … a move that alway…

Happy 11th Anniversary to the PA Montco Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2012! Thank you Wally Triplett, John King, Kim Gallagher, Richard (Dick) Ritting, Bonnie Smith Taylor, Hank King, Bob Bloss, Bill Bartle! It was great to meet, hear and honor all. The incredible stories PSU's Wally Triplett told about the horrific difficulties he and teammates had to overcome back in the 1940's, before and after he became the first African American to ever be drafted and play in the NFL (the Jackie Robinson of football as some said) still need to be heard. Thankfully Penn State and others are continuing to tell it, including origins of the famous (and often copied) “We Are … Penn State” chant.

I’ll be a part of this program tonight. Stop by and learn the stories of some of the people that lived here many years ago. I will be talking about the Balmer family who lived in the Port Kennedy section of the township. John Balmer was the town grocer. His home and store were taken in the 1920’s for the expansion of Valley Forge park. More of his families story and others hope to see you there!

Grave Tales at Port Kennedy Presbyterian Church
Tonight starting 5-7pm.
Learn the history of the Upper Merion Village that has disappeared! You may even get to meet an apparition or two as we tour the cemetery and get to know the "residents" that helped shape the history of our area.
Learn about the prehistoric Port Kennedy Bone Cave and the creatures that once walked where you stand! And learn about and see the silent movies that were filmed here and at the nearby Betzwood Studios.
This event will be rain or shine!
We may move indoors in case of inclement weather. Please dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight.
Suggested donation - $5 per person / $10 per family
