We don't have the room or the demand for decorative items -- especially decorative glassware. Those items should go to a thrift store, please. Also, the best way to reach us is via text at 320-226-5845. I am pretty faithful in responding to texts.

While we appreciate and rely on donations, items that are broken, ripped or stained have to be disposed of at a cost to us. We don't have the resources to clean, mend and fix things.

I don't charge for anything and I don't get anything for my time, gas or mileage. When people drop off items like this that are clearly garbage, I have to pay to dispose of them. Not only is that not sustainable -- it also takes the joy out of helping others.

As many of you know, I have changed jobs. That means that I work 5 12-hour shifts one week and two the next. Because my availability is limited, communication is very important. When you let someone know about Just Passing Through, please remind people to text 320-226-5845. Phone messages might be on my phone for a week before I reply to them and Facebook messages might go unanswered, but I always reply to texts. Thank you!

I was putting things away for the night when a young man stopped, saw this couch and chair and said, "I want that!" When we dropped it at his place, he said, "I'm so proud to have this." This set was part of a two-trailer donation from the DAV. It is such a gift to be able to find new homes for these "treasures."

I begin training for a new job next week, so my schedule will not longer be as flexible as it has been. I plan to keep Just Passing Through going, but I won't be as quick to respond and my availability for pickup and delivery will be limited. Like everything else in my life, I'll figure it out as I go.
