The board at Lil' Dude's Insect Academy and Bradon's family have been blown away by the amount of love and support we've received from our community. If you'd like to attend Bradon's memorial service, it will be held tomorrow, December 20th at 1:00pm PST at Cascade Community Church in Monroe, Washington.

If you'd like to watch the service online, the church will livestream the event on YouTube. You can attend here: https://youtube.com/live/yvON4mxQNFw?feature=share

In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that donations be made in Bradon's honor to Lil' Dude's Insect Academy so that the board can continue his work. Give here: https://www.lildudesinsectacademy.com/donate

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the unexpected passing of our founder and dear friend, Bradon Coy on Sunday morning. He was with family and passed without pain. He would tell you that he loved insects for as long as he could remember.

A memorial service will be held for Bradon this Saturday December 20th at 1:00pm at Cascade Community Church in Monroe, Washington. In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that donations be made in his honor to Lil' Dude's Insect Academy so that the board can continue his life's work. https://www.lildudesinsectacademy.com/donate

The memorial service will be live-streamed and a link will be made available shortly if you would like to attend virtually.

I had the pleasure of attending the meeting in Portland OR this year and man am I pumped up about the future of entomology! We were able to have a booth again and meet so many awesome entomologists, and reconnect with some long-time friends. I also had the honor of speaking in a symposium on disabilities in entomology (recording coming soon)! This trip was so important and valuable for both the academy and my personal endeavors. See you all next year in Columbus, OH!

When you think of cockroaches, you probably imagine pests in kitchens. And when you think of termites, you might picture chewed-up wood and expensive repairs.

But here’s the twist: cockroaches and termites belong to the same insect order—Blattodea
In my latest video, we dive into the fascinating world of Blattodea:
✨ How to identify cockroaches and termites by their unique anatomy
✨ Their secret evolutionary connection (yes, termites are just social cockroaches!)
✨ Amazing species you’ve never heard of, from hissing roaches to mound-building termites
✨ They're amazing mothers, and they even produce milk for their babies!
✨ Common myths busted (sorry, roaches won’t survive nuclear bombs!)
