On Tuesday evening, a crowd of Monroe and Union County residents rallied in front of Monroe City Hall to speak out against Flock cameras in our city. 15 of our neighbors spoke during public comment about their concerns over Flock’s increasing presence and encroachment on individual privacy rights.

Following the Monroe Police Department’s Flock informational presentation, the council passed a motion that requires MPD to bring ANY changes to the current Flock contract through the Public Safety Committee, and then on to the public agenda of City Council for approval. The mayor and all six members of council voted in favor of this change.

THIS is how progress happens. This is what makes change possible. Thank you to each and every person who showed up Tuesday evening. I will continue to show up to fight for resident privacy. Thank you to Neighbors United x Vecinos Unidos de Monroe for organizing this opportunity for action!

What is Flock doing with your data?

A private company that can track your daily living patterns and predict where you’re going to be at any given time of the day should probably not have full discretion of where that information goes and who has access to it.

Join Neighbors United x Vecinos Unidos de Monroe on Friday, July 10 from 6:30 - 8pm for an informational session and community discussion on Flock cameras here in Monroe.
