As special needs caregivers, it's important to pay attention not only to those we're caring for, but also to what we're allowing into our own hearts and minds throughout the day.

What am I watching? What am I listening to? What am I focusing on?

Is it bringing me peace, joy, hope, and encouragement? Or is it feeding fear, negativity, heaviness, and discouragement?

Everything we consume is taking us somewhere. Every choice moves us closer to peace or closer to stress. Closer to faith or closer to fear.
Today, take a moment to observe what is influencing your thoughts. Choose what strengthens your spirit and fuels your ability to care well.
You matter too. πŸ’™

God showed me a weeping willow tree … and immediately, I thought about parents and caregivers of special needs children.

The weeping willow is built differently. It bends without breaking. It withstands storms that would uproot other trees. Its roots run deep, and even in harsh conditions, it continues to stand, to cover, to protect, and to endure.

That’s you.

Parents and caregivers of special needs children are some of the strongest people on this earth. You carry weights most people will never fully understand. You push through exhaustion when your body is begging for rest. You juggle work, caregiving, IEP meetings, therapies, school calls, appointments, sleepless nights, emotional stress, and still somehow keep showing up with love.

You don’t quit.
You keep loving.
You keep fighting.
You keep advocating.
You keep trying again tomorrow.

That kind of love reflects the heart of God.
And I want you to know this today: YOU ARE SEEN.
God sees every unseen sacrifice.Every tear cried in private.Every prayer whispered in exhaustion.Every moment you chose love over giving up.

Isaiah 40:29 says,”He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

God is sustaining you even now. He is giving you what you need for this season. Keep your eyes fixed on Him. When you feel bent low under the pressure, remember the weeping willow still stands because its roots run deep.πŸ™Œβ€οΈ

Stay rooted in Him.
You are stronger than you realize.
You are graced for this assignment.
And Heaven honors the love you pour out daily. ❀️🌼

I have to testify! πŸ™ŒπŸ˜
Special needs parents, you'll understand why this is such a big deal.
When Dillyn was little, he used the same sippy cup for YEARS. It was the only cup he would drink from, and if we even tried to switch it out, it would trigger major meltdowns. It had to be that exact cup.
Because he used that sippy cup for so long, his teeth began to project outward significantly. It looked similar to what you might see in a child who used a pacifier for many years. On top of that, going to the dentist was incredibly difficult.

For years, we couldn't get dental work done because he wasn't able to sit still and would become overwhelmed.
As he entered his teenage years, my heart would break. I honestly thought his teeth would stay that way forever.
But let me tell you how good God is! πŸ™Œ

Today, Dillyn not only gets his teeth cleaned every six months, but he also gets X-rays and all the dental care he needs. Even more amazing, he goes back with the hygienist BY HIMSELFπŸŽ‰

About seven months ago, we decided to visit an orthodontist to see if there was any hope of correcting his teeth. They recommended Invisalign.

Friends, he has been wearing Invisalign for SIX MONTHS with absolutely NO issues! πŸ˜πŸ™Œ His teeth are straightening beautifully, his confidence has risen tremendously and he actually enjoys going in for his checkups.
I have been so excited that I've found myself walking around the orthodontist's office telling anyone who will listen how good God is!

Some people may not fully understand why this is such a huge victory, but special needs families know. This isn't just about straight teeth. This represents years of prayers, breakthrough, growth, courage, and God's faithfulness.
What once seemed impossible is becoming reality right before our eyes.
I must testify!
You guys, God is so, so good! β€οΈπŸ™Œ

To the Special Needs Parent Entering Summer Break...

As summer begins, routines shift, schedules change, and the balancing act of work, caregiving, appointments, activities, and everyday life can feel overwhelming.

If you're already thinking about how you'll make it through the next few months, here is a gentle reminder:
You don't have to carry tomorrow today.❀️

Focus on today.
Today's needs.
Today's grace.
Today's strength.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:34:
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Your child's routine may be changing. Your schedule may feel uncertain. The demands may seem greater than your capacity. But God's grace is not given in advance for an entire summer, it is supplied fresh for each day.

Today, choose to breathe.
Today, choose to receive His help.
Today, choose to celebrate the small victories.
You don't have to have every week mapped out or every challenge solved.

His grace is sufficient for today.
And when tomorrow comes, His grace will be there too.

πŸ’™ Special needs parents, you are doing holy work. One day, one moment, one grace-filled step at a time. You are loved!!!! β€οΈπŸ’•
