Flag Restoration Project

This project is to replace old and dilapidated flags and repair or retire them properly. This page is page is to notify us of flags that need recovered.

Liam Willcox a 7th grader, 12 years old, has an eye for flags. He started pointing out tattered and torn flags and wanted to replace them. Working with the VFW Post 2153 we take donations of flags and money to purchase flags through the American Legion and Liam goes around changing out flags and retiring the old ones. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHERE YOU SEE TATTERED FLAGS!

The years have flown by and Liam has retired from Flag Restoration Project. He never spent a penny of the donations on himself, and in fact never even asked for a single donation, but so many people felt compelled to support his efforts that donations came in and this nonprofit had to be formed.
Liam is 19 and attending Iowa State University. The monies collected were distributed amount several other nonprofits, such as VFWs, and Honor Flight.

Liam graduated this year 🎉 headed to college and dropped off his final 47 flags before the Flag Restoration Project takes a hiatus. Happy 4th of July

We have an event coming up where Liam can meet you to retire your old flag and get you a new one for FREE to put up for the Fourth of July. He’s wanted to hold an event in honor of the the 4th each year and thankful to be able to do it this year at Mission BBQ in Davenport on July 2! Come say hi!

Liam‘s been working hard on the design for the new website, coming soon! And we will have a special event coming up on July 2 - 11 AM to 2 PM Mission BBQ in Davenport 🇺🇸 Drop off your worn flag to be retired, we will give you a new replacement flag to fly for the Fourth of July!

Our flag retiring ceremony today was canceled due to the heat, does anyone know of another where we can retire the flag restoration flags? Did Arsenal island already have theirs?

Liam spoke today to the Rotary club of Davenport and was asked for locations to drop off Warren flags. These organizations we work with, and will take flags to be retired properly. Comment if you know other locations!
