Good evening Explorer Post and Club 100 families,

I hope you are all doing well.

It has truly been a pleasure launching Explorer Post 100 and the aviation club just over a year ago and serving as the lead advisor. Building this program from the ground up and working with such a great group of youth and families has been very rewarding.

The original intention was to resume regular meetings after the summer. However, due to increasing personal and business commitments, I am no longer able to continue in the lead advisor role. As a result, we are looking for interested adults who may be willing to step into Post Advisor or supporting leadership roles to continue this exciting part of the Scouting program.

Explorer Post 100 has a strong foundation and significant potential, and I am confident it can continue to grow with the right leadership in place. While I will be stepping away from this role, I will remain active in the Central Valley aviation community as I continue working to establish a new flight school at the Stockton Airport.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like more information about how you can help with the Post. I am happy to assist with a smooth transition in any way I can.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Warm regards,
Mark Thompson

Please contact James (Greater Yosemite Council) at (209) 545-6320 if you are interested in taking over the leadership of Aviation Post/Club 100.

He was a Patriots Jet Team Scholarship Recipient and just graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Pilot (Fixed-Wing Emphasis). While at USU, he also served as the Flight Team Head of Training.

Explorers from Aviation Post 100 had an unforgettable day at Castle Air Museum in Atwater last month!

One of the coolest parts was a guided tour inside the C-9 aircraft ✈️ where they got a hands-on look at the structure, systems, and history of this amazing jet. They also explored the outdoor exhibits filled with giant military planes from across the decades—so many photo-worthy moments! 📸

A special surprise came when two of our adult leaders recognized aircraft and equipment they had actually worked on during their time in the US Air Force 🇺🇸
• Mark shared awesome stories from his time as a Loadmaster on MC-130Ps with Special Ops and CSAR missions
• Brenda talked about her experience as a Flight Nurse on the KC-135 and C-130, and even her early days working with F-4 recon film at Meridian ANG Base

It was a day full of learning, inspiration, and aviation pride! 🛬

Big thanks to the incredible staff and volunteers at Castle Air Museum for welcoming us so warmly 🙌

This week, the Explorers at Aviation Post 100 had an unforgettable opportunity to get hands-on with aviation history. The group walked over to a nearby hangar to conduct a preflight inspection and in-depth exploration of a classic 1958 Beechcraft Bonanza 🛩️.

The experience provided a unique glimpse into the inner workings of this vintage aircraft, offering Explorers a chance to engage directly with the mechanical and structural aspects of flight. From examining control surfaces to reviewing safety checks ✅, the Explorers learned the critical steps involved in preparing a plane for takeoff.

Moments like these bring textbook knowledge to life 📚 and spark a deeper curiosity about the world of aviation. Huge thanks to those who helped make this experience possible—and to the Bonanza, still inspiring future aviators after more than six decades in the sky! 🌟
