SHARE - Stanislaus Homeless Advocacy and Resource Enterprise As an organization SHARE will accelerate the involvement and education of the community. Funds we raise each year will be granted solely to this end.

The Stanislaus Homeless Advocacy and Resource Enterprise (SHARE) believes that all people deserve to have access to safe housing and/or safe shelters in order to move forward in the community. In order to move forward together, we will employ strategies which identify and solve problems using our valuable human resources and civic resources, to boost civic engagement, create opportunities and offe

r equitable access to all public and private resources within our community. Working 100% to propel our mission forward. SHARE's mission:
1. Utilizing a dedicated group of volunteers who work with people currently experiencing homeless and/or ones who need assistance after they have obtained housing, to fulfill their agreed sustainability goals.
2. Involve and educate the community at large on the many issues relating to homelessness and engage them to develop solutions.
3. Attempting to assist as many families and citizens out of homelessness, and its many symptoms and causal effects, toward a gratifying and safe lifestyle. SHARE’s volunteers will be paired with individuals based upon a well-defined matching process and assist them, as long as they are needed or wanted, to advance them along a defined and agreed plan of action. Our most valuable assets are the citizens in our community and their willingness to help our most vulnerable, among them the people experiencing homelessness within our community. We know that reaching out and getting involved with all residents of a community builds a safer and more secure living environment for everyone.

Imagine having to choose between a roof over your head and the only companion who has never left you. That’s the reality for many people experiencing homelessness — people like Daniel and his dog, Rafi.

I’m homeless, but not because I want to be — every place that offers me a bed tells me, "You can’t bring your dog.”

My name is Daniel, and Rafi has been with me long before I lost my home. I found him scared and limping behind an empty building, and he’s been my family ever since. When my job disappeared and rent went up, I had nowhere left to go. I tried shelter after shelter. Some said no because of insurance. Some said no because of space. One offered me a bed — if Rafi went to a kennel across town. I knew he wouldn’t handle being separated. So I stayed with him.

We share one blanket. We share whatever food we can find. At night, we protect each other. People think I chose this life. But really — I chose the only soul who never left me.

Stories like this aren’t isolated. In cities across the country, people are choosing the streets rather than abandon the companions who give them comfort and love. In San Antonio, a 19‑year‑old named Samuel refused a shelter bed because they would not allow his dog Mordex to stay with him, saying of his dog, “He’s my son.” Community members rallied to support them after his story was shared online.

What does this say about us as a society?
How can we ensure that no one has to choose between a roof over their head and the companion who keeps them going? How can we build systems that value connection, compassion, and dignity — for both people and the animals they love?

Let’s talk about solutions:
• More pet‑friendly shelters
• Community spaces that support people and pets together
• Policies that address why people lose housing in the first place
• Support networks that help people stay in homes with their companions

No one should be alone — not in a bed, not on the street, and certainly not without the one they love. ❤️
