Mobile Environmental Justice Action Coalition - MEJAC

Mobile Environmental Justice Action Coalition - MEJAC MEJAC is a coalition of Mobile Bay-area residents and groups confronting EJ concerns locally.

The Mobile Environmental Justice Action Coalition was formed in 2013 by residents of Africatown aligned with stakeholders and regional advocates with the mission to engage and organize with Mobile’s most threatened communities in order to defend the inalienable rights to clean air, water, soil, health, and safety and to take direct action when government fails to do so, ensuring community self-determination.

Yes, science is hard. Climate science is no exception. But don't you dare be this stupid in public.

Trump posted that the UN just admitted climate change projections were “WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!” and declared victory over what he called 15 years of Democratic fearmongering. He has no idea what he’s talking about. Scientists who build climate models recently retired their most extreme worst-case scenario (called RCP8.5) because it assumed coal use would explode and no clean energy policies would ever be enacted. Turns out renewable energy got cheap fast and some countries actually did act. So the absolute doomsday end of the projection range got updated. The new projections still show roughly 3 degrees Celsius of warming by 2100.

The May 19th primary election is STILL HAPPENING! Your vote STILL MATTERS!

The May 19 Primary is still happening — and your full ballot matters.

On May 19, Alabama voters will still choose candidates for offices like governor, secretary of state, state legislature, county offices, and U.S. House.

For voters in Congressional Districts 1, 2, 6, and 7: your May 19 vote still counts, and there will also be a special primary on August 11 for the changed congressional districts.

Make your plan:
✅ Vote your full ballot on May 19
✅ Watch for updated congressional candidate lists after May 22
✅ Check your voter registration and polling place
✅ Call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-844-458-6837 if you face issues voting

This is about who gets to have political power in Alabama — and who does not.

Make a plan. Vote.

We intend to be fully engaged to run down all outstanding questions and concerns about the proposed project for nearby residents and the interests of our communities as a whole.
