Proud to partner with these amazing organizations. Thank you CDC Foundation, Lifelines Counseling Services, and Bay Area Women Coalition, Inc.
In Mobile, Alabama, hurricanes can bring intense rainfall and rising water from Mobile Bay that can quickly overwhelm local drainage systems. When drainage ditches are already clogged with debris, the likelihood of flooding increases, putting residents at greater risk for waterborne diseases, asthma and other respiratory conditions from mold exposure.
To better prepare their community for hurricane season, Lifelines Counseling Services partnered with Bay Area Women Coalition, Inc., Rebuilding Together of South Alabama, the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency and local public works departments to mobilize a cleanup of 22 drainage ditch corridors, removing over 10 tons of debris. They also hosted community events to highlight the importance of keeping local drainage systems clear and provided lifesaving training on recognizing and treating severe bleeding as well as administering CPR, giving community members the necessary skills to help their neighbors during storms and other emergencies.
We are proud to work with Lifelines Counseling Services and other organizations across the Gulf South to help bolster communities against the negative health effects of hurricanes and other weather events.
