We've seen a surge in predatory birds in the neighborhood, and unfortunately Mama and her latest litter have moved on before we could convince them to come inside. That said, we're still going strong in our efforts to contain baby-makers and trouble puffs in the area! Merry and Pepper have been desexed and fully vaccinated and will be on their way to their new home as soon as Pepper is fully healed, where they will be spoiled even more than we have! Sugar and Chili will be staying as residents due to Sugar's poor eyesight, but we also have a few adults who can be adopted.

Apologies for the silence!

Winter is a rough time for us. Operating costs go up trying to keep the facility warm. Intake is also up; we always get a boost when the weather turns cold and more strays show up for food and shelter. That said, we've been able to get a considerable amount of our current residents in for spays and neuters thanks to our local vet having a Community Spay and Neuter day!

Gizmo was done yesterday and is recovering well.
Merry and Cygnus go in next week for their neuters and vaccinations.
Pepper's spay and vaxx will be on Feb 10th.
Chili and Sugar will be done in March.
This is HALF our current population! Our other three boys have already been neutered so that only leaves three more, and once Merry and Pepper recover they will be going to their new home 🥰

It's been a while since I posted.
The babies are doing well, growing like weeds! Pepper and Merry will be going to their new forever home after a vet visit, while Sugar and Chili will be staying. And we have a couple newcomers! Cygnus (the little void who said NO to being caught) is now inside, and we've just taken in this adorable little girl we're calling Bug. She's been showing up for food once or twice a week, but with winter coming on strong I couldn't let her stay outdoors. She is very friendly, seems healthy other than a scratchy meow and a bit of the sniffles. She doesn't seem to mind other cats but they do mind her, so we're keeping her quarantined for her own safety.

It's been a while since I posted a kitten update, so here's a quick one before I go back to my job that actually pays the bills 😭😅

The babies are doing great! They've graduated from the "kitten room" to free-roaming our building with the permanent residents. I love coming home and being greeted by this little horde of furbeans! Merry has outpaced his sisters and looks like a miniature adult. Pepper has gone from being the obvious runt to being tied for second biggest with Chili, and while she still has some of her spice she's the BEST cuddler. Chili has become the most calm and carefree (and lazy), and Sugar has decided I am her human and won't leave me alone. Merry and Pepper have a new home pending their spay/neuter and vaccinations, and Chili and Sugar have a potential fantastic home also pending spays and vaccinations. Two of our residents do not appreciate their chaotic energy, but three of them have accepted them with open paws including our territorial little princess Gizmo. We're currently at a healthy, happy, and fully socialized four months of age 💖

Merry, Pepper, and Chili: Hey! Hey human! Love on us, play with us, let us out of this room and into the rest of the house with the other kitties!
Sugar: Can y'all quiet down? I'm trying to sleep in this climate-controlled palace with a soft bed, free food and water, and a clean bathroom.

We're still looking for good forever homes for Chili and Sugar. These girls are about 3 months old and closely bonded, so they must go together. Both are very friendly (Chili is a bit more independent and Sugar is still a bit shy), playful, and love to snuggle. Chili is more of a "next to you" snuggler, but Sugar will happily curl up in your lap once she gets used to you. They are fully weaned with kibble and canned food, and use litter box exclusively. They have not yet been spayed, but will be before going to their new home!

Three months, Pepper and Merry!

This morning, a new visitor decided to make our facility her new temporary home.

Meet Misty! She's a young, likely pregnant, silver tabby female with a little bit of a skin condition we'll get cleared up. She was left at a local gas station and followed one of our staff home when they walked up for their morning energy drink. She's very friendly, loves pets and allows herself to be picked up. She doesn't seem to be too afraid of dogs and tolerates other cats (at least she did outside). She will be spayed and vaccinated, and ready for a new forever home as soon as her skin condition clears up!
