Well said!
Last night i had a conversion with a young man who told me that he was thinking about joining the GTA. Once agsin I was asked, “What’s the advantage of being a member of the Georgia Trappers Association?” Whenever I’m asked that the answer is simple and ALWAYS the sam: you’ll get out of it what you put into it.
Like any worthwhile organization, the value of membership depends on participation. Inactive members may receive basic updates or newsletters, but they often miss the deeper benefits. Simply paying dues without engaging limits what the Association can offer you personally.
However, members who choose to be active quickly discover the true rewards. By attending meetings, participating in events, and volunteering at functions, you build lasting friendships with fellow trappers who share your passion. These connections create a strong support network where knowledge, techniques, and experiences are freely shared.
Active involvement also provides opportunities to learn. Whether it’s improving trapping skills, understanding wildlife management issues, or staying informed about legislative matters that affect trapping in Georgia, engaged members stay ahead. The Association works to protect trappers’ rights and promote ethical, responsible trapping—but it’s the participation of its members that gives that mission strength.
There’s also a sense of pride and purpose that comes from contributing. When you help with youth education programs, assist at conventions, or support community outreach efforts, you’re ensuring that the heritage of trapping continues for future generations.
In short, membership in the Georgia Trappers Association is more than a card in your wallet—it’s an opportunity. If you choose to be active, to show up, and to contribute, you’ll reap a wealth of rewards that go far beyond the cost of dues.
As a Life Time Member of the GTA, a member of Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina Trappers Association’s. As a member of the NTA, Fur Takers of America, and National Trappers Foundation I want to personally invite you to not just join but become involved with your state and National trappers Associations. You will reap so much more than you could ever imagine. If you have questions dont hesitate to reach out.
