Mitchell County Crime Stoppers now has "TEXT" tips available for anyone with texting service on your cell phone. If you have information about a crime "text a tip".

Text users can send their tip to: "CRIMES" (274637) with the keyword TIPIT.
In other words, citizens can text "TIPIT plus their crime tip" to 274637 (CRIMES).

For the first time, mobile phone users from Mitchell County now have the ability to provide anonymous crime fighting tips through the power of text messaging and WebTips. Mitchell County Crime Stoppers is providing this service which allows citizens to send anonymous tips by sending a text message from a mobile phone or online.

Mitchell County Crime Stoppers encourages residents to report information about any non-urgent illegal activity, such as vandalism, theft, the sale and distribution of drugs or information about crimes that are being planned. Anyone can anonymously text in a tip to help prevent a tragedy or great loss.

Text users can send their tip to: "CRIMES" (274637) with the keyword TIPIT.
In other words, citizens can text "TIPIT plus their crime tip" to 274637 (CRIMES). When a tip is sent, it is encrypted and routed through secure servers, protecting the personal details of the tip provider. It also allows police to exchange text messages with the tip provider without ever knowing the person's identity. This service is NOT for emergencies or crimes in progress. For emergencies, call 911.

Crime Stoppers Tip on Business Break In

The Beloit Police Department recently arrested two individuals in connection with the break in at Donker's Liquor store. Police received a tip through Mitchell County Crime Stoppers that assisted in their investigation of the business burglary.

Over the past several years Tipsters have received anywhere from $25 to $100 through Mitchell County Crime Stoppers. The reward amounts vary according to the severity of the crime being reported. Tipsters can be eligible for up to and possibly exceeding $1,000.

Mitchell County Crime Stoppers has reached their funding goals for the year. This puts the organization in a position where it can offer maximum rewards for tips on local criminal activity.

On July 30 a black wallet was left at Dairy Queen in the booth next to the freezer at approximately 1:00PM. Two Colorado licenses, a credit card, insurance cards, a vaccination card, and rewards cards to King Soopers, Dick’s, and REI were taken from the wallet.

The Mitchell County Sheriff's Department took a report of a battery in Cawker City on July 31. The incident happened between the ours of 11:20 PM on July 30 and 2:00 Am on July 31st. A young man was severely beaten by one or more persons. Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information is acted to contact the Sheriff's Department or Mitchell County Crime Stoppers via the Web Tips system.

The Mitchell County Crime Stoppers board has added three new members to its roster. The board would like to welcome Pat Bergmann, Janet Remus and Brenda Schultz to the board of directors.
Crime Stoppers works with local law enforcement to help encourage tips to solve crimes in our area. If a tip provided to Crime Stoppers leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Shelby Eck, the 14 year old Beloit resident reported missing from her home has been found unharmed. Chief Ryan Stocker said that Eck is enroute to the police department as of 11:00 A.M. today.

On 01/04/2011 at approximately 08:30 P.M. Officers with the Beloit Police Department were informed of a 14 year old female identified as Shelby Eck had left her residence located at 915 North Mill Street in Beloit, KS and had not returned. At this time, Eck was not reported as a runaway until the following morning on 01/05/2011 at approximately 8:40 A.M. At this time Eck was reported to be wearing a Pink "skinny" jeans, and a white and pink striped shirt. Eck has blue eyes, blonde hair and has a light complexion. Eck is 5'8" tall and 140 pounds. Eck has identifying scars on the inner side of her left forearm.

Eck was last heard from on 01/05/2011, and Law Enforcement is asking anyone who has contact or sees Eck to report it immediately to the Beloit Police Department at 785-738-2203 or to the Mitchell County Crime stoppers at:
