Opening Day Moose — Joe Did It.
Headed out after work to meet up at Red Rock Lakes and got the call as I was leaving town: Joe tagged his moose on opening day. Couldn’t be happier for him.

Congrats Joe, we couldn't be happier for you!!

Huge appreciation to Doug Misko and Tyler Jensen for being ready to drop everything and go help. Those two were fired up for Joe and are just as stoked as I am about the outcome. Antelope wrapped last weekend, Joe’s moose is tagged, and general rifle is around the corner—momentum is real.

Thanks to everyone who keeps opening gates and backing this mission. Let’s keep it rolling.

Antelope Wrapped. Moose On Deck — built in the quiet, ready to rip.
It’s been quiet on here for a reason. The last month and a half was full-time job grind, a cranky back, and locking in access, gear, and plans for general rifle. Quiet feed, loud work.

And it paid off.
Last weekend we wrapped antelope: Teagan tagged out 20 minutes after daylight on his first speed goat, and Zane stayed after it for 5½ hours—try after try—then dropped his second (biggest yet) just before 2pm. We were rolling back to Missoula not long after, truck full of smiles and meat.

Now it’s Joe’s turn.
Two months ago, Joe Bauer found our site, called me, and told me his story—a stroke survivor who’s waited 30 years to chase moose. There was only one answer: “We’ll be there.” With the Quantum Outback power chair, a pile of optics, and plenty of muscle, our crew—Doug Misko, Tyler Jensen, and me—is all-in to make this dream real and be there for whatever Joe needs.

We’re a week and a half from general rifle. New hunters lined up, gates opening, systems dialed. Thanks for riding with us while we’ve been heads-down. We’re more ready than ever. Let’s go to work.

Opening weekend of antelope season was one for the books. Teagan tagged out just 20 minutes after daylight with his very first speed goat — calm, steady, and smooth from start to finish.

Zane’s day looked a little different. Try after try, he stayed at it for five and a half hours — working hard to get close enough for a shot. When the moment finally came, he made it count. Another pronghorn down, and another story of determination written in the sage.

By just before 2pm, both tags were filled, and we were headed back to Missoula with two grinning hunters and a truck full of memories.

Huge thanks to the landowners, volunteers, and supporters who make days like this possible. Every hunt like this reminds us why Wild and Able exists — breaking barriers, building confidence, and proving that the outdoors truly is for everyone.

Two Years, Same Story — Opening Weekend Success

There’s something special about tradition in hunting — and Teagan and Zane are building one of their own.

For the second year in a row, they both filled their cow elk tags on opening day, and almost in the same exact spots. Last year, Zane dropped his first elk here. This year, his second fell less than 200 yards from that same place. Teagan has now gone back-to-back on opening day as well, proving once again what’s possible when opportunity meets determination.

These aren’t just harvests — they’re milestones. Each elk represents independence, confidence, and the chance to be fully involved in the hunt from start to finish. Thanks to the right gear and the right support, these young men aren’t passengers. They’re hunters, writing their own stories.

Looking back at last year’s photos and standing with this year’s harvests, it’s clear: these aren’t one-time successes. This is a pattern of growth, experience, and proof that the outdoors is for everyone.

Like, share, and follow along — because this is just the beginning of our biggest season yet. More hunts, more stories, and more life-changing moments are right around the corner.

Our season opener didn’t stop with Teagan’s success — Zane was ready to write his own chapter.

We set him up in the Quantum Rehab Outback chair in the exact same spot where he harvested his very first elk last season. Lightning struck twice. The herd came through again, and Zane went to work.

At 414 yards, he made a clean, confident shot, and his cow elk dropped less than 200 yards from where his first one fell. That makes three elk in just two seasons for Zane — an incredible run of success for a young man who refuses to let anything hold him back.

And this time, the Quantum chair gave him full independence to track and recover his elk. Instead of waiting for us to bring trucks or load him up, he cruised right alongside, following the blood trail himself and finding his elk with a grin that said it all.

This is what adaptive hunting is all about — not just being there, but being part of every single step.

Like, share, and follow — this is only the beginning of our biggest season yet. More hunts, more stories, and more life-changing moments are just ahead.

Our season opener kicked off on the ARCO property in Anaconda, and it didn’t take long for things to get exciting. We spotted elk 500 yards out across the valley and made the move. Teagan was loaded into the Quantum Rehab Outback chair, we grabbed the gear, and started toward the patch of trees where the herd had disappeared.

Before long, we were right on top of them. At just 80 yards, Trevor spotted two cows and two calves working straight toward us. We froze. The chair was quiet enough to let us slip in that close — and smooth enough to maneuver into position, setting Teagan up at the perfect angle for the shot.

The elk walked into 30 yards. They knew something wasn’t quite right but couldn’t pin us down. They turned, trotted back into the timber, and swung wide to cross the road. Teagan was ready. As the first cow stepped onto the road at 70 yards, he squeezed the trigger and dropped her in her tracks with a perfect shot.

This chair changes everything. It gives independence, mobility, and confidence — letting these kids experience every part of the hunt. Teagan didn’t just “come along” — he was a hunter, fully engaged from start to finish.

Like, share, and follow — this is just the start of our biggest season yet. More hunts, more stories, and more life-changing moments are ahead.

This picture says it all.

For the first time, our hunters aren’t just along for the ride — they’re right in the thick of it. The Quantum Rehab Outback gave Teagan and Zane the ability to move with us, stalk quietly, line up their shots, and even follow the blood trail themselves.

This is more than mobility. It’s independence, it’s confidence, and it’s being fully part of the hunt from start to finish.

We’re beyond grateful for this game-changing piece of equipment and for the chance to prove what’s possible when the right tools meet the right determination.

Stay tuned — the story of this opener isn’t over yet.

We want to send out a huge thank you to 406 Engineering for believing in Wild and Able and supporting our mission.

A special shoutout to our friend Kara, who made this happen. It’s moments like these that remind us how much this mission depends on the people around us. It’s not just about the hunts or the gear — it’s about a community that chooses to stand with us and ensure these opportunities continue to grow.

Every gift, every hand extended, every bit of encouragement builds something bigger than ourselves. Local support like this fuels everything we do, from opening gates to changing lives, and it proves that the strength of this mission comes from both the field and the people who back it.

We’re beyond grateful to Kara and the team at 406 Engineering for stepping up and being part of this journey. Together, we’re showing what’s possible.
