TODAY is the last day of our Sponsorship Drive and we only have 7 kids left in need of BASIC NEEDS and/or SHELTER sponsorship.

Sponsorship is about more than food, water, and shelter, although those are often the most tangible ways we can care for and show God’s love to widows and orphans (James 1:27).

When sponsors step out to provide for a child in need, not only is that child blessed, but the sponsors heart is shaped to be more like Christ through their actions. It’s a win-win.

Moses is a quiet four-year-old boy who lives with his father and four siblings in the town of Kakooge. Due to her struggle with mental issues, his mother has abandoned the family, leaving his father working hard as a farmer to care for all five of their children. The family often goes without food for days. With his father’s permission, Moses has moved into our Life Home Village. Please consider becoming his sponsor, so he will be surrounded with love and support and will have the opportunity to go to school.

Today is the first day of our Life Home Child Sponsorship Drive! We’ve recently learned about 13 new children who are in dire need of an alternative living situation. We hope you’ll consider sponsoring a child or spreading the word.

A MAJOR Praise report from Alex in Uganda:

"GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.
After 12 days of confinement, I am out again to take a taste of the natural environment; the fresh air, the scenery, the cool breeze etc. Feels soooo gooooood."

Alex is still in the hospital, waiting on results from another COVID test. Besides the cough, he is doing well.

Good morning! Great news from Bishop Alex - see below:

GOOD NEWS
Today makes 10 days since I was admitted at Bombo General Military Hospital (GMH). with COVID-19.
I have now been moved out of ICU. and also been removed from oxygen support system. I am feeling much better and stronger. My entire family was brought back for review and another rest. They are all doing well.
THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH MILLIE I AND MY FAMILY DURING THESE VERY DARK DAYS. YOU SURROUNDED US VERY WELL AND INSULATED FROM THE DIRECT IMPACT OF COVID-19, YOU ARE THE REASON I CAN WITH A BIG SMILE SAY; THAK YOU JESUS.

We have some encouraging news to report! Yesterday Alex posted the following on his page:

"GOOD MORNING FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I am writing to let you know that I feel better this morning and my health is beginning to pick up again. I do not know when they will wean me off oxygen, but the progress is there. Thank you for all the support you have given to us. The rest of my family are home and they are receiving home base care and they are also faring well. God bless you all."
Alex does remain in the ICU; he will move to "Observation" once he is weaned off oxygen.

Millie also emailed us her thanks for all the "moral and prayer support." She was able to turn her attention back to her work as CEO of Life with Hope, the organization which cares for the children sponsored through Align International. Because of the recent COVID exposure, it is imperative that ALL the sponsored children and BPC staff get tested. Millie would like to have key members in their church community tested as well. She reports:
"...there’s a frenzy out in our church family. Those that associated closely with us are concerned for their health. We are desirous of helping them get tested. A few have found ways of getting the test but others aren’t able. The categories we’re looking at are all our staff and a few active church members."

The most cost-effective price they can find is $30/test. We currently have about half of the $6,600 needed in our Disaster Relief account. UPDATE ON ALEX: Millie is able to take care of him in the ICU, as she has tested positive but has no symptoms. She says Alex is stable, and doctors are happy with how he's progressing.

Alex recently posted this on FB:
God speaks to us in soooo many ways. This day as I am fighting for my own life in ICU, a young man calls to request that I lead him to Christ. He is aware I am sick and in ICU. But he still felt it was me he wanted to lead him to Christ. I wanted to request someone else to pray for him but sending how special this was to him and to me, I LED TO CHRIST. Who know this could be my last opportunity to do the greatest honors for my Lord and Master But most importantly, I would like to thank the young Justine Oceng, for according to me such a rare opportunity to hear the gospel from my Lord and Master again; Read John 5:24 Through salvation, Life transcends death.

Please someone drop that text here for me, I am low on strength. Happy Festive season to you and don't worry about me, pray for me. I am covered by the blood of the lamb.

We have an important update regarding Bishop Alex Ojera's health. He has tested positive for COVID and has fluid build up around his left lung. He was admitted to the ICU at the Military Barracks Hospital across from Bombo Pentecostal Church. He has low oxygen levels and is currently receiving medicines via IV. We covet your prayers right now for divine healing and protection for Alex and Millie as she also tested positive for COVID yesterday. She will be managing her illness from home. We are still waiting on results for Miah, Esther and Isaac.

We share with you a recent photo of Alex with children from the Donela School in Bombo. The entire community calls him "Daddy" so we can only imagine the feelings they are experiencing.

Thanks to all of you who have faithfully supported us this past year. COVID has posed many challenges, and we're grateful for your continued support. You have been a blessing to many in Uganda in this time of uncertainty.

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. In the midst of this holiday season, we invite you to pause and reflect on all the good you have done through your contributions to the glory of God. Our BPC partners have been the hands and feet of Jesus to the least of these in Uganda, thanks to your support.

Sadly COVID continues to spread throughout Uganda day by day, and we anticipate the need to provide food for our target communities will soon return. Third World governments are typically rife with corruption, and therefore simply do not care appropriately for their citizens in outbreaks like these.

We recognize there are many worthy nonprofit organizations working hard to make this world a better place. We encourage you to take a moment and pray on where and how God is calling you to help - perhaps He will call you to respond to a need in another organization during Giving Tuesday tomorrow.
